Am I nuts for considering this for my 3 months in New Zealand?

Not sure about driving it for 3 months and really not sure it would be worth shipping home to the States but I kind of like the ugly thing: http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Mo...-326827479.htm

Who better to ask the opinion of than a bunch of British car lovers.

And this is what happens when a rover owner buys a Hilux...... they swap the Hilux engine for a RoverV8?

First car is fugly

Why would you want that range rover? not like it is a 2 door or something cool.. Just an old range rover with a toyota diesel

I love 2002's and have never seen one like that. if it is in good shape and rust free that would be a really cool car to own.

from http://www.bmw2002faq.com/content/view/80/32/

BMW also produced a limited run of targa models referred to as the Baur convertibles. From '72-'75, they existed with targa-tops, a removable metal roof section over the front seats, and a soft fold-down rear window. All of the targa models were 2002's.

Maybe buy the 2002 and a diesel bj75 or hj75

Please stop posting, you are making me want to buy a 75 series as a 2nd car

I have decided the Triumph is too ugly as well.

And yeah the RRC is cool - and pretty cheap - but really not worth the effort in the end.

I am really leaning toward a SWB LC 70 series as they are in plentiful supply there and pretty practical overall. I really like the slightly lighter duty early "Prado" Land Cruiser based on the 70 series - coil sprung solid axles instead of the leafs like the HD ones.

As for the 2002 - I had one years ago that I made into a convertible myself. Cool car and was fun but i don't need another one right now. I'd be more tempted by getting another old Mini to go with our '66 Cooper S. Maybe a Mini LWB "Van" or Austin Maxi or something a little bigger could be fun. So many cool toys to try out over there.

I'd love a old mini, they are just to hard to find in solid condition over here at a reasonable price of course
