Almost gave a guy a heart attack today

Hopefully this will come across in a post somewhat as funny as it was in reality.

I went to Cars and Coffee this morning in a RHD 110. As I was pulling in another car was leaving so I waited to take his spot. As he pulled away I followed him a bit so that I could back into the spot. My son was in the passenger side. He's 12. The people standing around in the lot turned to look at the 110. One was the owner of a beautiful early Porsche Speedster. As I started to back into the spot the owner begin to yell and scream and wave his hands but I didn't notice. I continued to back into the spot, turn off the engine and jump out. When I looked up a small crowd of people were patting this guy on the back and laughing. It turns out he didn't notice the 110 was RHD and thought my 12 year old was backing into the spot next to his car without looking back.

Maybe you had to be there.

Clay

Being weird, I often drove with a large stuffed rabbit in the left seat.

I love taking my 8 year old daughter with me in the 110. At one point I had taped a little tykes steering wheel to the dash. I took that down though after a lady called the cops on me. The cop thought it was hilarious and so did I.

For the fun factor I would never consider a left hand drive conversion

Reminds of this Romanian commercial...

A little while back I was going with a friend to some Land Rover event that was going to be mostly highway driving to get there. My friend brought a blindfold to freak out everyone that would pass us. So many people did double takes. RHD is a lot fun.

My dog used to sit in the "drivers" seat of my RHD 109. It was great to see peoples faces.

Great story about the Porsche.

My hound usually rides in the back but this usually happens when he rides up front

Now we have a reason to have RHD.

That was a riot, Clay. Where were you at HH, anyway? Have you progressed on your 90 or is it still a front wheel drive?

There used to be a guy in North Atlanta that owned a RHD Jaguar XKE roadster and an Irish Wolfhound....

You can imagine the double takes he got driving down Peachtree Street with the dogs head about a foot above the windshield in the "drivers" seat.

Yeah, hated missing HH again. Spring sports tryouts screwed my chances of getting to Kilroys at a decent time. Nope, AWD again. I sent the rear shaft to GBR for a rebuild. After 89k miles the center bearing failed.

I've got a buddy locally with a RHD 109 pick up.

His 6 year old has his own extra steering wheel that he likes to take along on rides...it looks hilarious.

Personally, I just enjoy driving into the bank (okay, the drive up lane) via the exit
