Bear Grylls has already smiled for his appearance, shaken hands, and put his arms around a few people. Clearly a far cooler ambassador than Daniel Craig ever was for his $2M appearance a few years ago.

I had to turn it off after the poo started flowing out of Gerry facehole.

Luckily he was wearing that scarf so the poo didn't stain his remarkably ugly jacket.

His blatherings make me have some serious fear that the next Defender won't be as good as we all hope it will be....

I was waiting to see what the new Discovery looked like - back to Plan A of buying a diesel Range Rover Sport....

I wish they would have let the ol'girl die a peaceful death and come up with another name; like Retreat or something.

That whole production was a bit "above and beyond!" ;-)

Looks like a fat Evoque to me.

The era of distinctive off road vehicles has come to an end. With this new Discovery 5, nothing in the line up going forward looks like a Land Rover, to me. Land Rover found their new niche market...the Louis Vuitton toting 50 thousandaire that will choose between this and a Lexus.

I will be on the look out for a LR4 in the future, and sadly, that might be the last newer Land Rover I purchase, unless Gerry Mcgovern gets his shit together with the Defender.

The classic lines of the Discovery are certainly dead with the Disco 5

And this makes me want to sell every Land Rover I own and take up cross stitching.

Not all that impressed but I'll hold off some judgement till I can see one up close in person.

All the staged and edited photos don't really get me excited.

Now a modern diesel with center and rear locking diffs that can seat seven. That's kind of exciting....

A friend of mine participated in a Land Rover focus group. Under confi so couldn't say much. He said the Evoque was the crowd favorite.

Defender Feedback
"Smaller, relatively affordable, utilitarian, super sexy, fashion forward while being pretty literal in its nod to its heritage, especially in the hips. I hope they green light it."

The build your own feature on Land Rover USA site is active for the new Discovery.
I optioned out a Fuji white diesel Td6 five seater with the tow and off road packs (2 spd transfer case), full size spare and a few other options for $65,440 - about $12K cheaper than a comparable Range Rover Sport.
It really doesn't look that bad in the pictures I've been reviewing for the last few hours.

$65k isn't bad at all.
