Listening as well. they only found one life jacket onboard and boat had at least four as well as a cooler. hoping they are rafted up and will be found soon. at least they can now model the drift patterns based on where the boat was found.

More on topIc. I think we just prevented a similar story yesterday.
I'm in Key West right now and we just rescued four completely inexperienced boaters in the main channel coming into KW Harbor. Hydro thunder rented a jet boat to four non-English-speaking people (one of which was a child around 5) NOBODY had life jackets!!!!!!!
I can't believe they rented a boat to them. The guy couldn't even figure out what was going on and the woman was trying to bail out the boat with her cupped hands!
F-ing incredible!
Can you believe those asshats (the people that rented the boat to them) had the audacity to give us shit for using their dock to drop their customers off?!? After we clearly saved them from doom. I think the jet boat sunk minutes after we left.

The amount of absolutely retarted boating down here is amazing.
Yes, A.C., down here for mini season. You are welcome to join.

John, glad they found the boat, but like everyone esle, very bummed the boys were not with it. My thoughts and prayers are with them and their families.

Surprised that English papers picked up on this.

It is the lead story here on Palm Beach County News. The first 8 minutes of the boradcast was about the boys and their families. Man , I hope they find these kids.

The story was on CBS national news this morning as well. Our prayers go out to them and their families in the hope that they are found safe!

John, give the Sea Turtle Preservation Society a call as they patrol the coast every am. We are back in NC, else would contact them ourselves- and they may need any details you might can provide.
Prayers with the boys and their families.

This is all so sad, yet all too common. If people would actually wear the PFDs instead of just chucking them in the forepeak, there would be way less of this. Even if the boys have perished the PFDs would keep them from sinking, and the anguished family would have closure.
So peeps, WEAR you PFDs in and around the water. If you find them too restricting use an auto inflating type that will fire even if you go into the water unconscious.

We lost 6 people to the Chesapeake in the last two weeks. All could have been spared with a $10 PFD.

missing life jackets = they were used somehow. Seems to me the kids were smarter than the average bears in and around a boat and the water offshore. So, that tells me they would have been smart bought to grab what they could to raft up - and assumed the boat would sink...I have called to pals down in Jupiter who are on the water now - I really hope they get these two.

the boat was found with anchor lines tied of to the cleats which indicate they were trying to hold on. If they had time to do that they certainly had time to put on jackets. Just keep spreading the word. Ive been offshore with Perry.. the kid knows his way around a boat better than most adults.

Any news if the boat had a EPRIB, SPOT, or VHF radio - hard mounted or handheld?
Good news. US Navy is deploying assets for the search.
