I'll keep watching, but I find the editing a bit haphazard. Was it me or did you guys do nothing the brothers couldn't have done on their own to change the tire? It honestly didn't look that challenging to me either, although I know it never does on camera.

Oh, and seeing you had no front diff guard made me cringe.

even if they come back in another rover, that's not going to give me any relief. Then the yota and jeep douches will be giving me shiite about making sure I pack a spare rig.

------ Follow up post added December 15th, 2014 08:26 PM ------

God I hope super jeep comes apart in one fell swoop like safety glass, like a cartoon with the two 48'ers sitting on gravel holding the steering wheel with a stupid "WTF" look on their face!

I'm hoping there was a rule or agreement made between the racers that catastrophic failure of your initial vehicle does not disqualify you.
You are not allowed to attempt fixing that vehicle during the race (time constraints?) BUT...you are allowed an alternate vehicle and take a time penalty...!?!

.... Or maybe they are going to finish the race anyway...prize or no prize. Righteous!

Either would be sooo sweet!!

Ooooo... wouldn't it be sick if Jason used his series to rescue another team? ...and then won?

Yay team Rover-1! Woot woot!!

i am not up on the latest in reality shows but i like how you guys are timing social media posts with the airing of episodes.

i think its really awesome that you guys are sharing these updates on the defender board as well. i wonder if the 'yota and jeep guys are doing the same on their respective forums?

remember, he didn't break down on the trail. In thinking this may be a loophole to permit for a new rig to get into the race. Hopefully....

Would be amazing to see him come back with a stock Series and win the whole damn thing.

Something has to be up... That Toyota guy said he was out of the race and it looked too scripted.

Agree - that tire change seemed pretty straight forward. I thought it was off the brothers of all the groups would call in for help on that. But you never know the full story watching these shows.

To be honest, that's what really was irritating about the first 2 episodes, some post production dude was subbing in some kind of revving motor that was *clearly* not a Tdi every time Rover1 did something.

This was the first episode that I clearly heard the clackety clack plus angry hissing turbo that I am used to from the Tdi.

The brothers really did need the help. They were helped quite often on every trail.

Diff guards were in place. They're painted black and hard to see. Bill even picked the rear one up for me right where he changed his tire. It had taken a good smack and came off, I had written it off as lost forever.

Speaking of hard to see, does your front diff have one of these bolted to it:

Or a simple weld-on half diff guard. They're cheaper than a sewer cap and don't require nearly the amount of installation effort. Just four MIG weld beads and you're done

Same way you do stock... the diff comes out, there is no removable cover on a rover type diff.

The rig was towed out on a flatbed? How does a rollback truck get to you out there, or how do you get the truck to it?
