Alabama to Alaska in a NAS 110

Just picked up a 110 in Birmingham a few days ago and we're on the way back to Alaska. I've been trying to figure out how to post pictures using my ipad, but haven't had any luck so far...we'll get those on here once we get back!!

Currently in Vermillion, SD and everything's going well so far...Stephen at Adventure Motorcars (who we got it from) thought we were crazy for attempting the drive!! I guess we'll see how it goes . So far its been real good, except for a coil wire that fell off....why would a company mount that thing upside down?

We put one of the Autohome roof tents on it, so we're getting a LOT of strange looks going down the road!! That thing is awesome...super comfortable and incredibly easy to deal with...spendy, but i think it'll be well worth it!!

We'll be driving through the badlands today, so keep a look out for us if youre in the area...

We saw a super nice blue RHD Series 88 just outside St Louis the other day, so hello to you if youre on here!!

Do you have chains? They might come in handy on some parts of the Alcan.

I've had a hard time posting pics to the forum from the Internet, but posting from the forum runner app is a breeze. Give that a look.

Sounds awesome man! Congrats on the purchase and have a good drive! If you come through Elko on i80 give me a shout.

So you going overland, or taking the AMHS Ferry? I certainly hope you have better luck than I did last year!!

For pics... make sure you are using Forum Runner on the iPad, it seems to work pretty well. When you want to post a pic, hit the "reply to thread" and then the little plus sign up on the top. Choose "attach from camera" or "attach from photos" and presto!

We have made the drive a few times before but in something a little more user friendly . This trip we are turning it loose overland, i have spotted a few dirt roads but i don't think i am going to press my luck yet! we brought everything but chains, which would have been smart, lucky for us the car has studless winter tires!

This one is number 91 and previously lived its life in Colorado with 2 other owners so at least it has cold weather experience like it will get in Alaska!

Thank you for the picture posting advice, i will try it out when we get to our overnight destination!

Happy Trails!

Looks like I got the photos to work...sorry for the repeat :-)

The first was of Stephen's shop in Bham while we were installing the Autohome.

The next was in Hermann, MO...a really cool little town...we just missed getting to see a big Civil War reenactment!

the final shot was in S Sioux City, NE...pretty neat campground overlooking the river.

I'm sending this on the fly while my girlfriend is learning to drive the 110 in North Dakota...wish me luck!!

Thanks...We're really enjoying it so far, and it is in really good shape! Still needs some TLC in some areas and I'm sure it'll get a lot during the long winter in AK!!

Rovers are a lifetime project, so you will have a ton of time... Where did you put the basket?

We're going to take about 11 days, so it'll be a lot of fun and not too rushed!

We left the basket in KY at my parents house...since we won't be in Alaska forever

We'll be hitting Mt Rushmore and the Black Hills tomorrow, then on into Montana, meandering Northwest...
