Airbag law bypass

Maybe since Ford is so broke they can claim this and bring the Defender back before they sell off the division.

I tried to look at it but you need to be a member to log on. What is Ford claiming anyway? The government/DMV can force the auto manufacturer to put the bags on a car but they cannot force the consumer to use it. If you chose to remove the bag there is nothing they can do about it, just the horn still needs to function. This may change down the road due to law suits and insurance companies pushing for air bags but as of right now it will pass the motor vehicle inspection.

I don't know but I'm guessing the article was something like this one:

(not going to happen for a rover though)

Sorry if the link was bad. It was about Telsa motors not having to put airbags in their electric cars because it would be to much of a burden on the company. It just reminded me of why LR stopped the NAS Defender in 97.

Didn't the infamous Cross Lander also get the airbag exemption certificate? I remember something about the fact that it'd cause economic disaster to the Romanian town that they were building it..
