Does anyone know of a company that will do agreed value on an ungaraged vehicle?

I have a 1988 Defender 110 and am trying to find Agreed Value insurance. Appraisal came in at $27,000 but it's only worth $5,000 to current insurer USAA.

I tried Hagardy's classic car (through All State) and they declined the application because they currently only accept SUVs that are 1985 and older.

Grundy's wouldn't work either.

What are insurance options for the "newer" (25 year old) Defenders?

Were you told this in writing from Hagerty's? About the 1985 and older?

Did you save the chat? I'm pretty sure this is not the case with their policy (of course, unless they changed it - which certainly is possible). But I'd be happy to dig into for you if you want to send me any info via pm/email.

Didn't save the chat. Not sure what else I can do but if you feel like digging I'd appreciate any help.

Jason, any update here? I just spoke with Hagerty's and they told me the same thing, nothing newer than 1985 on trucks and SUV's. I am trying to find an agreed upon policy currently, with no luck with the major insurance companies.

This is one thing that might vary on a state by state basis depending on state insurance regulations.

So shop around!

So here is the word I got from Hagerty, which does seem to support the fact that they do not offer it on '85+ trucks/SUVs:

"We can look at 2000 and newer cars, but in that case do also require that your daily driver vehicles are at least 5 years old or newer as well. If we look to insure 90's vehicles, we require that your daily driver vehicles are 10 years old or newer. For any trucks, SUVs, vans, or motorcycles, we require that they are 1985 or older at this time."

I've been meaning to write them back to see if they would take any certain cases into consideration, but given the above it does seem unlikely.

On a related-note, someone local here in VA does have their '94 NAS 90 through Travelers and was able to get an agreed-upon value of $31,500. However, be aware this was not put in place automatically...I believe he had to furnish either the bill of sale or comps in order to get that amount put in place - but he did get it in writing.

Another vote for Chubb, have 3 cars with them at agreed value, including the D90.

I got insurance through American Collectors Insurance for my 85 ROW 110. I told them what it was worth, where I keep it parked, and how many miles a year I drive it. They came back with a quote, and I was happy. No issues.

Sorry to ask the question, but who is on the hook for the insurance premiums while it resides under the watch of the Gov't?

Me. My premium is low, and I don't want there to be any issues when/if it comes time to make the official "my truck is gone" claim.

Outstanding -- that scenario would be covered by insurance?
