I want to see what age groups comprised this site. I got into Rovers at age 20. Everybody I've met had always been well above my age before meeting jimmyjamz when he lived in Richmond. It's still the same but I wondered if it was just where I was living or if the community as a whole was older.

As the poll is showing there are a lot more folks in the 30-40 than I thought. Granted the poll has only been live for less than 24 hours.

As far as the colors.

From what you said, maybe your question should be "At what age did you buy your first Rover?"

I was 47.

I'm 64 and bought the first of my 18 (or something near there) Rovers when I was 20 years old. It was a 1961 Series II station wagon in elephant grey - officially called mid-grey in the Land Rover color chart.

I was 13 in 1964 when I saw my first Land Rover (a marine blue 109 station wagon) and I thought it was just about the coolest car I'd ever seen. Still feel that way...guess that's a good thing since I own 4 of them.

Driving a Land Rover makes you feel much younger so that's appealing. It may be because Series trucks don't exactly ride like Cadillacs...

Based on my experience with the community the numbers seem about right. Granted, I deal mostly with the more established mid/late 30 to 50 crowd who have disposable income, but even the consulting I've done with the younger guys has been few and far between.

I got my first Rover at 17 and have just passed the 10 year mark.

Jimmy and I are around the same age and I think he had his DII around the same time I got my DI. Age you got your first might show something totally different. I'm guessing it would not be bell curve and would be equal across all brackets. I think age you first saw/were inspired/wanted might favor younger brackets more heavily; however, when you're young you're obviously more impressionable and that's when dreams are born. So that poll wouldn't really show anything useful.

My personal observation is that the Rover community has always been older than me based on the folks I've met. But clearly that doesn't jive with the responses so far. There are lots of factors that aren't considered with the poll like how may older folks aren't on forums who is actually reading and responding.
