Added another Rover to the driveway

Added another Land Rover to the fleet - got bored with the Honda CR-V so I sold it to buy a bigger white box that can tow a trailer. Now that LR3's have depreciated into the affordable zone I decided to give one a try.

I found an Expedition White LR3 with the rare black interior (I don't know exactly how rare they are but it seemed like 90% of the white ones out there have the "Alpaca" interior and I just don't like beige....) for what I thought was a reasonable price - $16,800 with 86,000 miles in St Louis, MO.

The only issue was that it was 600 miles away in St Louis - with a $75 Delta buddy pass and a promise of a full tank at the dealer that had the Land Rover I figured a nice 12 hour shakedown cruise and another $60 tank of fuel would get it home.

First impressions are very positive - I'd never even driven an LR3 before I bought this one - but I'd rate it as a big improvement over my previous Range Rover Classics (3) and 96 Discovery as a road car. Since that will be this trucks main function - I'll have the two Series trucks and the Defender for more arduous duties - I think this will work very nicely. I got around 18.4 mpg on the 12 hour drive back from St Louis to Atlanta (construction delays and a detour through the Land Between the Lakes National Forest) it proved to be very comfortable with lots of power. Its a 2007 HSE model with the Harmon Kardon sound system so it probably cost over $52 K new.

Sharp looking rig. Very nice looking in white. Sounds like a good deal to boot.

Good call getting 8 cyl vs earlier six. I'm sure you'll check the other forum for what to watch for and save yourself a ton of grief. Got one for daughter an just finished going through air suspension. Good fun when all working right, looks nice

For a 2007 with that mileage you did very well to get that price. Less than two years ago I paid almost the same for my 2005 LR3 HSE with about the same mileage. But brace yourself: driving around town will drop the MPG to around 12-13! That is the only thing I don't like about our LR3, but it is in every other way a terrific second/family/wife's Land Rover, brilliant highway cruiser and huge cargo area (just picked up a 6' armoire with ours), and terrific with trailers.

Good looking truck, we had a white LR3 just like that. Still remember bringing my son home from the hospital in that truck. Kicking myself over that one. Enjoy it. We got an LR4 in the same color. They're fun too!

Wowza! That is graduate level ratchet strapwork. But I could close the back door on the LR3 :-).

And, seriously brah, you can only do that kind of stuff around lower Manhattan where no one is driving more than 5 mph.
