Ok, ok ....sorry for the delay, was trying to get my clutch master job wrapped up so I could put the truck away before we get hit with Snowmageddon . Heading out to the NoVa HH shortly as well, but I'll try to get my hands on an original article one of these from Peter or Patrick locally, and will take a look at it so I can figure out exactly what I'm up against. From the pics I've looked over there are a couple of nuances that I'd certainly have to work around, but will be able to tell better once I actually get one in my hand to digest.

PS - Peter, if you have an old/broken one please bring it tonight so I can take a look at it in detail.

Will do. Thx for looking into this. It would be really cool to see SDO expand into RRC bits

I got one of the "gently used" (i.e. broken) RRC speaker covers from Peter at HH last week, and have had a chance to start looking it over. My in-person concerns are about the same as my original concerns...you're starting with a LOT of material (probably a 10lb hunk of aluminum) if you were to try to do this in one large complete piece. It's also a LOT of labor since there's quite a bit going on. I'm not discounting it yet, just not sure if it would be entirely feasible to go this route.

That said, I've got a second option I'd like to investigate for this actually - possibly casting this out of aluminum, and then going back in and touching it up with some milling afterwards for the details such as the mounting tabs/etc. Just a thought, and to be honest I still need to do a little more thinking and looking into this, but just figured I'd air my thoughts publicly so John doesn't flood my inbox .

Happy to help ...and actually I've *sort* of been going down that route anyhow because of the Dash Grab Handle (#MTC6142) because I ran into some snags when prototyping with this so was investigating a cast/milled combination as a workaround. So this may fit into that same bucket as well for the RRC speaker covers.

However...just keep in mind that this stuff does move slooooooow especially when it comes to charting new territory with fab processes.

speedo binncle is next! For me personally, as far as speaker covers go, doesn't have to be a duplicate of the original, but you should feel free to improve on the design. If that means 2 parts etc, so be it...

As in they removed your good covers and tried to maliciously replace them with others?

Is this all a ploy to entice me to reduce Rover-related crime ?

Yup, the truck was undergoing a lengthy body repair thus all panels had been removed for the upcoming paint job, panels were on a bench, at time of assembly it seemed curious the panels were mising covers. .later found them stuffed waaaay under parts piles as if to conceal...I may have noticed if they would have been reinstalled an may have even thought or doubted of the condition upon initial removal, but there was not a need to remove and stash the way I found them.
Upon installed I realized those were not mine.... no respect.
