94 Black D-90's

this is a question for all the "old timers"

have you ever seen a:
1994 land rover defender 90 in black with an LT77?

i have had a couple of them over the years and every single one has had an R380. i have a chap that has asked if the transmission has been replaced. [ i know i know and R380 is better and who cares.... but this nice man might.] =)

thanks!

I have not and I think if you look at all the VINs for the black ones they are over the range for the LT77.

If I recall, the black 94's were a special edition and all came with the R380, in additon to leather seats, a chrome A Bar, chrome side steps and gear shift knob.

I thought the LT77 was standard in '94, but most were replaced with the R380 under warranty?

I don't have the exact number (I don't think anyone does), but if you search you can figure it out. IIRC it was in the 1300s.

On the plaque I think it was a little higher - your 1466 came from the factory with LT77 didn't it?

Looks like it's more like 1650 ish which had a VIN of SALDV2286RA944614 for the R380 switch - and Beluga Black in 1994 didn't start until plaque 1749 which if I'm reading it was one of (if not the) earliest beluga black from 1994. It looks like most of the beluga black 1994s fall in the 18xx range and only a handful are in the 17xx range. Plaque numbers aren't an exact science though.

Again, they were a SE in '94 and all came with R380s. So, I'm wrong about the shift knob. Geesh, minor detail.

There were 100 of the black 94's with the black leather seats and stainless accents.

Late in the model year, hence the R380.

yep- think my black with leather 94 SE was a June 94 build date. Came with an r380 and the bling bits were stainless not chrome, not that made them any more taste full
