94 90s

Did 1994 NAS 90s ever come from the factory with Best-Top/ belt rail systems or were they all Tickford/Snap tops to start?
I know lots have been converted over the years, but what about back in 1994?

I have a friend who has a 94 since it was new. It came with the belt rail. Now I dont know if the dealer did it or as the end of 94 came about they came that way factory.

His belt rail kit is black I think but not sure.

To my knowledge, they did not. I had a couple of customers with very late 1994s and they all had tickfords from the factory. I know some (more than a few) shipped without tops so I don't think it would be impossible for a left over 1994 to have been fitted at the dealer with a bestop as Barry suggests.

The way to tell if it was a factory bestop (I would think) would be to see if it had any snaps (heater vents, tailgate etc.). If there were a 1994 so equipped I would be very surprised.

His has door snaps and what not.

On another note my 94 has no door snaps and the belt rail is painted. The previous owner had it for 6 years and didn't do it so who knows. If my doors are new then they did one hell of a good job on them. Actually they must be new as the capping and the door rivets at the tops are not painted. Someone did a good job for sure.

I remember seeing several 94s on the lot here in NJ and they had no tops. THey were kepts under the roof of the building. IF they were sold late or early in 95, maybe they installed the belt rail.. I know they still had 94's in 95 at the dealer here..

In case you need a spare.

How about a full body, fenders, roll up window doors, windscreen and such to go with the top? Can need body work.

I have been thinking of building a hybrid truck as what ever I end up with will be tweaked and modified anyway......

**Too many ideas**

I remember seeing some new '94 models with the Best top in the dealer showroom. This was in late '94 all the way into summer of '95. This was also in Colorado - home of Best top. Not sure if that had anything to do with it or not. I got the impression at the time that the dealer had swapped them out. I know that they'd replace the Tickford with the Best top under warranty if the new owner complained enough.
I'm pretty sure they had the snaps also to work with the rain cover. It came with the '94's and snapped into place quickly to cover the rear tub and seats in the event of bad weather. Anyone else remember those?

Regards,
Art

my '94 had belt rail and Best Top. I bought used in late '96 with 20k miles. Vehicle had come originally from the same dealer I bought it from (was traded in). They said top was original and that they had done all work. Vehicle had no mods. So as far as I could tell, it was OEM and not a replacement/upgrade. I could see no signs it had been upgraded. Getting fuzzy, but I believe it was number 1776.

Beluga black. Rails were painted vehicle color as well as the rivets. Los Angeles car.

Art- my first was new in Dec '93, had the top/cage added, and the full tonneau was included. I ran it with a surrey and the full tonneau for the first year. I was so excited to get the 90, I just couldn't put the top on!! Cold, but fond memories.

I love the full tonneau. I sold mine thinking I would never get a 1994 back, now I have, I am sad. I also licked the tickford much better than the bestop, but my "new" 1994 has the belt rail. I would go back to a tickford just for originality sake, even though the badger is 100x nicer and better fitting.

My 94 was one of the 100 late 94's beluga black special editions with a gaudy stainless add ons, leather seats and r380.It had snaps on the dash vents and a few other spots-and the belt rails were obvious add ons. Wouldn"t Badgerman be the go to for this answer ?
