4.6 engine value

I met this guy with a 4.6 out of a disco 2. Truck was wrecked and engine has 60,000 miles. Is it worth anything?

He also has a bunch of misc p38 crap like body panels and ecus.

Pointless?

Buying a used engine you never heard run is like buying a 1985 "rust free" Defender from North Carolina....you never know what's actually going to show up.

That does not mean it's worthless, but it does affect the value.

Seeing as Tillery sells 4.6's with a 90-day warranty for $1,500, I personally would not pay more than $1,000 for it unless I knew the engines history.

Wouldn't it also matter if it was one of the years plagued by the headgasket issue(s) or was that basically all years?

Mark Calzoni @ Simmonites bolted one together when Ren Ching and I were there back in 2010. He'd had end parts made that bolted to the bock that acted as feet and supports for the glass top. Looked on his site and don't see them. Going to ping Mark and see if I can get a pair-have a 4.0 block laying on the scrap pile @ the farm.
