3.9 V8 in a series!

Does anybody know what it would take to put a 3.9 in a series assuming I have everything needed for the V8. I know I need grill, hood, engine mounts? what else?

Slam panel, radiator brackets, frame mounts for engine & transmission. Probably modify the bulkhead & gearbox tunnel and seatbox to clear the Auto trans & LT230....and some stronger shafts in the axles. Maybe some custom driveshafts...definitely some better brakes. You might have clearance issues with the series steering box/rods as well. I'd revert to your original plan and stick the series panelwork on the chassis you have.

Mod the bulkhead, engine frame mounts stay the same, use an apdt to fit the Sereis gearbox, driveshafts stay the same. Use a RHD steering box with LHD guts installed and make a custom link from the box to the steering relay, custom exhaust, custom throttle linkage, etc. but no need to make all those other changes unless you want a more Defender look and depends if you want a 5 speed or an full time transfer case, bt to just install a V8 into a Series is no big deal.

Better brakes would be a good idea, as mentioned.

Great info, Mike ! Thinking of doing the same thing in my S1 even though I shouldnt, but I'd rather enjoy driving it like my D1.
