LOL!
I can only assume you've heard the story(ies).

If you asked that question anytime after 3pm on Friday (after cocktail hour at work) I'm afraid I would not be able to lay off that softball. However, I'm going to excersize some manners and leave it to everyone's imagination.

Again, in all fairness they do fine work.

Given you do this for a living, I'll take a back seat to your real world prices. But from the web and my Autoweeks (BTW - great for the throne ), 2013 MSRPs for the G65 AMG is $326,000, 458 Italia is $229,825, and the G63 AMG is $107,000. Sorry, I was off by $10 grand.

Hell, I'd build a BR110 just for my scuba stuff (which i'm planning on anyway with a hardtop 110 since my 90 is too small for scooters and such, i wihs i could send it up to ECR but i can't and I enjoy working on them so it's me as the main mechanic)

My point - its a nice truck, built to excellent standards, if its too much, make a reasonable offer or leave it alone.
Ranting about the people with money who can do that is pretty lame.
Yeah, I hear ya. In fact I'm typically saying the same thing. Everyone should be allowed to do whatever they like with their money. I guess I was implying that these toys become less and less useful at this level and I just was questioning the motivation of such a purchase.
Personally, if I had a $10MM summer house, I'd like to think that I'd have a pretty nice boat with a prime slip that would take the place of any beach excursion. BRs are pretty cool, but they are sort of overkill for their intended use. If it's an issue of capacity (people), just buy two NAS 90s for less than half the price.
I admit, I used to lust after the BR-110s until I started using my 110 every day. Now I don't see how I could get as much overall utilty out of a BR and hence if I were going to spend $200+k on a Defender, I'd sneak in the baddest-ass Puma I could find and put 100,000 miles a year on it

I costed out building a 300tdi lhd 'beach runner clone on a galv chassis using a NAS D-90 as a donor and I can make profit at $115,000. So thats what I quoted the guy!, So at $225,000 someone is making loads of proft, fair play to them!

Has anyone bothered to look on the ecr site to see what went into it to begin with?

Galv frame
Galv seat boxes
Galv bulkhead
Manipulation to the cage to work on a 110
Custom soft top
Custom rear doors
4.6 engine that is set up properly
Full paint done right
Donor truck in mint condition
110 body parts
110 driveline parts
Stainless brake and fuel lines

I would never want this thing but I bet it cost every bit of the asking price. I am sure others can build something similar but I doubt the quality would be the same.

There is another one on the Copley site for 180k or something close.

I thought someone said these trucks start at 160 if not more. Others can say they can build for a 100k but if you think about it that is still a shitload of cash and if you have that much to burn on a toy odds are you don't want to fuck around with letting just anyone build it.

Ecr built a reputation and you pay for that and quality of work. Right or wrong it is how it seems to be.

I pay my dentist more than others because of his reputation. I am sure I can get a dentist in Compton to clean my teeth at half the cost doesn't mean I would trust them to.

I was always amused when anyone suggests that a person with $$$ should or should not do anything. When we first lived in C'ville we rented a house on a farm in Keswick. Super nice lady owned it and another almost as big up in New York. She bought a pair of Range Rovers at 80k each for the houses because she liked them and could go anywhere on the farm. Her dogs chewed up the back seats in no time, and people gave her crap about not taking care of the truck. She thought it was funny when she heard people complain about it as if they were footing the bill.

At the end of the day it is a car.

what i find funny is that other people / vendors use the term: "beach-runner" or "BR" and say they can build one. why dont you get an imagination and make up your own term if you have the skill to build it. why copy??

just my .02 =)

I'm glad people can make a living rebuilding Rovers. I'm glad rovers are being built so they will last. I'm glad that there are rovers out there for everyone. ($ to $$$$$) If I had the dough to blow on a toy tough, the BR is not for me. Its just UGLY. 4 door soft top? All those seats? Where are you going to put your beach gear? My only bitch is that some people have no taste. anyway, thats subjective to say the least...

For me, put a little cumins or a v8 in this:
http://www.copleymotorcars.com/defen....3.1vo974.html
that would be my BR.

Funny enough speaking of ugly I agree the br is stupid but the truck you just posted is equally ugly. Stupid push bar and diamond plate. The whole look is ruined.

I would say for each his/her own. Ultimately it's the market that will drive this type of truck to be made, if folks buy them they will be made, if they don't I'm sure folks like ECR wouldn't make them.

You guys are a hoot!
The thing about these trucks that makes them so cool is what each individual does to them.
That said, if I had a spare 225k, I probably would not buy a BR........but someone WILL!

I do hate to think it will mostly sit in a garage though

I thought a kayak was a cool accessory to my beach house @ $399.00
