2017 Defender Orders

This listing came up today - 1997 Soft Top

Description states "It's owner lovingly cared for it the last couple of years before ordering a 2017 Defender and a new Rover."

I contacted the dealer - they said that they will begin taking orders in the fall of this year. Not sure what this means.

It probably means that they will be accepting deposits for a waiting list. This happened with the Hummer H2. People were selling waiting list spots on ebay.

I find it odd that this dealer said that the buyer has ordered a 2017 Defender when they told you that they will start accepting orders in the fall. So how does this buyer already have one if they haven't started taking orders.

I think that he is a recurring customer that they allowed to get in line first.

I live in Minneapolis. The guys at that dealership are pretty normal. I'll ask them next time I'm nosing around there. (I don't use them for everyday service stuff because they are crazzzzy expensive, unless it's a warranty thing. There's an awesome independent Land Rover shop in the area.). I'll post up the details on that Red 97 in the craigslist thread

This 97 has been up before as has their 93 - they'll post the trucks up ~10 times on eBay at crazier and crazier prices, and never actually complete a transaction through eBay - purely free advertising.

Land Rover Chattanooga was taking deposits last time I talked to the guy we bought our last one from... $1000 deposit. I've thought about it.

I think I've been on my LR dealer's "list" for the new Defender since 2007 or 2008. The list is a little spiral notebook in the manager's desk, er assuming the manager is still there.

That sounds similar to the "list" (or lists) that I was on when I was looking for my SS Daytona.

I think in this case the dealer is taking actual orders - meaning you give them a deposit to secure a spot in the queue.

You mean the 2016 model that was announced at Basel? I have a NIB white 2015 model.

"Pay MSRP and have it this year" would be tough without something to sweeten it up.

$12,400.00

But to get the new one in the first year Keith is most likely going to have to trade a very low mile NAS to get one.

When I got my first one about 10 years ago, the jeweler told me "for some people this watch does not exist." Then told me I was the luckiest f*#@ on the planet because one just came in and he was feeling generous and sold it to me. Probably the only nobody to walk into an authorized Rolex jeweler, ask for one and walk out with a brand new one on his wrist.

2016 SS Daytona not yet released to the general public. They will be distributed in Sept/Oct. They can easily be had depending on how dedicated to the Rolex brand you've been over the years. Roger Federer and those sponsored have had it for about a year. I'm not a Rolex fan but will probably purchase this watch.

The LR dealer here in Vegas has a list of people for the Defender but he has heard no word on when they expect them.

I like the Daytona as well Is the one pictured above SS or white gold?
