2015 limited edition Defender headlights

Was looking at this site and noticed two of the three models have headlights that resemble the LED projectors on the G-500/G550 and less like J. W. Speakers:

Will be interesting to see how much they are through Land Rover.

I was thinking the same thing. It would be nice to have a set of those. I'll see if I can come up with pricing.

They've had them in a couple special editions. LR retail is about $799 a piece.

Part number was LR065433 and has superseded for the newer models to LR069119

Thats way better than $1399 http://fourbyfourclub.com/W463Electr...lightXenon.htm but I still wouldn't want them unless I knew they'd never break while venturing off pavement or subjected to random haphazards

The headlights which are being fitted to the last editions of the Defenders are Nolden Bi Leds. They are not those in the link above as they come out of a completely different factory! They do say imitation is the greatest form of flattery, or you could say someone is trying to get benefit off another company design and reputation.

We sell the Noldens RHD/LHT UK specification ones over here.

We have them fitted to one of our Defenders and can confirm that they are exceedingly good lights. They have the highest IP rating of IP6K9K which is a German test specification which entails high temperature pressure washer 80C/176F at 80 bar/1160psi from 100mm/4"

Measured light output is 1700 lumens which is one of the highest going.

Have not heard of one return of these lights due to condensation/corrosion/being faulty etc.

These lights are completely road legal in the UK and Europe as they are E marked and have Approval: ECE, SAE

They are a great light with a great combination of features with a superb reliability record.

1600USD for a pair translates as 1357 euros

LHD/RHT Noldens including mounting rings are 1140 euros/pair. Take off VAT and you would be looking at about or about 960 euros ex VAT or about 1130 USD.

Have no idea of USA custom duties or carriage cost.

If you can get a pair of genuine Noldens for 550$ jump at it.

However it describes those lights as having a glass front but genuine Noldens have a poly carb front??

Could be typo or ????

Look at the photos, they show closeups of the markings and the datasheet which says PC. It also says they are from Nolden.

Have a careful look at those photographs

Left hand light does not have any apparent markings on, right hand one has DOT markings

Another photo shows headlights with E marks on. A couple of points there, why is an American company selling E Mark lights as Europe has different cut offs to the U.S. also the markings do not look right to me. I will have to have a close look tomorrow at a genuine E marked one.

At the bottom of the text it mentions position lights. Those lights shown is not with position lights.

It could be a badly set out advert with things cut and pasted, with photos just lifted off the net.

E marked doesn't mean ok for the US which need DOT mark.

The pictures show a DOT mark. Which is not a great thing. The ecode pattern is nicer.

100% agreed.

The old DOT standard apparently required 20% of the headlight to shine upwards at street signs. Which explains why we all get dazzled at night.

If there are no DOT markings and customs inspects it, customs seizes it. Trust me I know from experience.
Mind you, much depends who the courier is. Also if customs has a boner for the shipper or the receiver.

Agree with you 100% that the Ecode light pattern results in a far more useful beam of light than the Blob of light that the US 1949's standard creates
