Because the current designers grew up watching Transformers in the 80's!

This concept is from 6-7 years ago give or take, when Toyota rolled the dice with their FJ cruiser. FJC got great reviews, so Ford says "lets bring ours back too!" and came up with this and then dropped it. To me it looks like a first attempt, driven by a novices lack of finesse with the 3-D software.

I think a better move would be to bring back the ranger. Mot a mid size ranger, not a pre runner Xtreme BS version, but a base, 4d mini pickup able to carry plywood. diesel too of course. Please no more "lifestyle" vehicles!!
