Cool 2015 Defender Assembly

Caught this on my YouTube subscription channel "TestDriven" tonight and I thought I'd share. Very interesting and lots of drool-inducing footage...

http://youtu.be/VxvvWqE2ki8

Don't know how to embed the youtube video so just linked to it.

That is a great video! I love that there is no talking or music. The Land Rover factory is really cool, I highly recommend visiting if you are in England. I got to see some of the first ten Puma trucks roll off the assembly line.

Thanks for sharing! makes no sense why we can't have these here! Love the fact they build by hand. Almost make me want to move back to OZ so I can drive my 110

Thanks for sharing! X2 on the no music or some tool talking over the sounds of a production line. Cool video.

I didn't realize until this video that the modern Defenders don't have the flip open windshield vents anymore. Looks like they have the indent of them in the windshield surround but don't cut them out. Maybe they all come with AC? Or was it due to the fact that is a real common point of water ingress?

New fancy Puma Dash didn't care about vents.

Thanks for posting. Couldn't help but think how those factory employees will transition.

Thanks for posting this, I had an opportunity some 30 years ago, a three day working visit to Lode Lane, and I can say that boy how things have changed at the factory, the pace is allot slower now or maybe it was because more work was done by hand then.

I can only remember a couple of robots then if that's what they where called then?

Maybe more will be able to visit the factory when it's moved to Mexico!

I echo a lot of your posted comments as I was watching the footage last night and I just had to watch it again just now... That white one towards the end makes my nipples hard :D

Great video, but this is the most human labor I have ever seen in a modern car factory! No wonder why the Defender production line looks like a red mark on Land Rover's books...the amount of labor involved in building a Defender is huge!

The 2007+ dash does not allow room for direct vents.

This is amazing. I've toured the Volvo factory in Gothenburg Sweden, the Mini Cooper factory in Oxford UK, did a two week internship at the Porsche factory in Stuttgart Germany, and spent six weeks at the Lockheed aircraft factory in Merietta Georgia. IMHO Land Rovers approach to building the Defender is closer to hand building aircraft than mass producing cars.
