2012 110 "Back in Black"

I thought I'd snap some pics of my 2012 110 for you guys. Once I made the decision to move to OZ I knew I would be purchasing a 110. Like most of you guys I have always wanted to own a new Defender. Interesting enough it took a while to locate the right 110. Most LR dealers didn't have any in stock and I could only find a handful across the country that fit my needs. I was trying to get either Black, Grey, or White. I found a killer Grey 110 with the Black Saw tooth wheels but it sold before I could get everything in order to purchase. I looked at a White one with Saw tooth wheels as well. I ended up going with Black as I already own a white 90 and I had always wanted a 97 NAS Black 90. So here she is. I went with Boost wheels as Saw tooth would have taken 4-6 months and would have had to order, I also have the leather seats (partial), and upgraded stereo (sucks). I have LR mats throughout the truck and my next mods will include NAS safety cage, Safety Devices Front bar (ECR style) with a winch and then of course a roof rack(wolf maybe?). Anyway, I love the truck, it's exactly what I thought it would be! A tractor with a body. Its been a little unique learning to shift with my left hand otherwise it's a killer 110!

Thumbs up

Awesome! Congrats on the purchase. What motor, 2.4L or 2.2L?

chad,
Hows the ride? I just ordered the puma seats from Safari HP but have never sat in them. How are the seats. It looks funny looking at a brand new defender. New car smell and defender dont go together
Looks great, congrats!

Forgive me, but I think I hate you... Hawaii, and now Austrailia? And a new 110? Hate may be too harsh, maybe a strong dislike. Congrats!

They are really comfortable, I'm 6'2 and about 215 so they fit me fine. I think you'll be happy with them. The ride is really great as well. It took me a while to get used to shifting on the left. The steering wheel seems larger than on my 90 but its been a while since I drove the 90.

I see a few but not as many as I would have thought. When I do see Defenders the drivers always wave. I also see quite a few older Range Rovers and I've seen several 2 door versions. For whatever reason, there are tons of Land Cruisers down here. I've seen more FJ60's and several FJ40's as well. There are lots of older cars on the road here compared to the US. They also drive a lot Utes which we call El Camino's. Really cool cars actually!

Just picked up my NAS 110 cage! Now I have to get it installed. I'm not going to install the center B hoop(I think thats what's it called). Looks like it should be fine without it.

You might want to set aside some time to install the center b hoop. The cage has a tendency to flex and can bang against the gutters when going I've bumps. It took me a couple months to find the time to install the b hoop after I put my cage on, and the rattle/banging drove me crazy. Also, if you don't install the b hoop then you've got nothing to bolt the corresponding exterior cross-bar to. This is the one that bolts through holes in the roof. I've seen one modified to not have the mounting "feet" on it - it looked good, but of course means cutting and re-powder coating. Then you still might have the banging problem.

Hi Jim,

I thought I would cut of the brackets and not mess with the interior as I was concerned with messing with the roof. I didn't really want to drill in the roof. If the flex is that bad maybe I'll reconsider. Thanks for the input.
