2011 Evoque Sport

Allright.... I was one that agreed with everyone here that this was a shit can when we first heard of it!
But! This thing is rubbing me the right way now!
We all need a second car to go out on the town, rite!

On Top Gear it did well out in Death Vally, until Capt. slow aka James came up on a large boulder in the trail and couldn't climb it!
All he needed was different approach angle... I guess there's only so much filming they could do for an hour show!

No low speed transfer case or lockers make this about as capable off road as my Honda CRV.

Not every vehicle needs to be Moab capable. This would be a great runabout for the ladies and urbanites...... I do have major issues with the DC100 though which is suppose to be Moab capable. At least the Evoque looks Rangie-ish whereas the DC100 looks like the stillborn offspring of the Kia Soul and Lady Gaga.

As far as for the ladies, I'll keep my Disco and we will still go with a 110 when we find that perfect one. As far as the Evoque, we were invited to go drive it. I personally couldn't bring myself to drive it, it's just as ugly as I thought it would be and it has four fracking cylinders. Chris ever the optimist, drove it, said it would get up and go...mmmkay. I'm sure it will be big with the 20 something "urban" crowd and maybe the elderly, but I will keep my dirty offroading truck thanks. They will be having the launch party here next month and because I am friends with pretty much everyone at the dealership we shall go.....besides not passing on the free open bar!

I drove it on Sunday. It drives fine. Power delivery kind reminds me of the the LR2 because of the lack of torque. I did like the magnetic suspension and the heavy steering when you put it in sport mode. There was an off road obstacle course set up but there wasn't much to write home about there. The driving instructor even said its really limited off road due to poor departure/approach angles and lack of low range. Bottom line, I told my sister who has a lease on an x5 which is almost up to go check out the evoque. It's a nice car but not for me.

I think the funniest part about the day was when everyone associated with the event from Land Rover was talking about how absolutely disgusted they were with the dc100 concept.

I was invited to check out and drive the new 5 door Evoque this past weekend while in CA. Despite the initial shock of how it looks, it is a very cool car. It's designed as a baby Range Rover and everything about it is made to the same standards as the big daddy.

I saw it at the dealer over the weekend. They had both the two and four doors. I couldn't believe how short it was. Four door was the size of my 90. I was also shocked at how little the windows are. It has to have shit visibility.

Visibility actually isn't bad. You see what you need to without a problem and the side mirrors are massive. Plus the Back-Up camera is really good.
