2011 Defender Italy

http://www.flickr.com/photos/2339433...@N00/lightbox/

Picture of a new model like fire and ice available in Italy. It looks like it has LR3 wheels but slightly different. Anyone know if Land Rover just added some new wheels for the defender. I doubt they used adapters.

The fenders and roof top.

Maybe it's not chrome... I still don't like the shine.

I was told that the defender was returning to the US market. I cant remember exactly when but I believe she told me it was between 2012-2014. I know this topic comes up from time to time, but the person that told me this is pretty knowledgeable. Also, I spoke with a guy yesterday who works at a local dealership (non LR) that said the same thing. They both said I should wait a few years to get a d90 because the defender is returning.

I've heard this too, from my buddy at the dealership... And that Range Rover and Land Rover are splitting into two separate brands.

Yea, we can only hope these rumors are true. The big question is what will it look like if they redesign the Defender to meet new specs. I really hope they keep the new Defender looking very traditional. Maybe a 110 on the outside and a LR4 on the inside

I think there is little hope the new Defender will resemble anything we would want. Hope I'm proven wrong, but all the indicators don't look good. LR execs talk nothing but sustainability, versatility, and other trendy buzzwords that speak nothing of a traditional Defender. LR wants to abandon the military market. EU regs will mandate a light frame and a soft pedestrian friendly body. Car magazine editors would love nothing more than a unibody with a hybrid and an electric rear axle like the show car from a few years back. My money is on a disposable "lifestyle" vehicle offering as much satisfaction as an LR2
