There's a piece with the head of design on FastCo. on this and their design approach. There's such a disconnect from this and the defender I have a hard time believing whatever gets the Defender name in the future will even remotely embody what we love about these trucks. I'm ok with that, the brand has moved on, they know where the money and prestige is.

When the new body style LWBs hit ~40-50k I am getting one. I love my jag super v8 so it will be a similar experience with the supercharged V8 and the extra rear leg room.

I saw one of these on Monday at Land Rover Houston Central. It was getting prepped for delivery later that day. The Pearl White paint job was listed at $14,000 on the sticker. Total price, $201,000 (plus tax, title, license, delivery fee, etc. etc.)
I will say, the rear seat is almost as nice as a Maybach. Although only one of the seats has the extended foot support. (come on Land Rover!)

The extended foot support is only on the pass side due to the front passenger seat having the ability to move further forward.

Having both the RRC LWB and the L322, the RRC definitely feels much roomier. Not only on the rear leg room but even shoulder room. I can't quite wrap my head around it, since on the outside, the L322 is much wider and they're roughly the same length.

I'm with Ron, when the current L405s hit the $40-$50k mark, I'll be all over one. Although that might take longer than the previous gen.

In the Super V8 you can control the passenger side front seat from the passenger side rear seat so when you are sitting back there you can push the front seat forward and have like 3ft of leg room. It is really great. I bought mine and then my driver promptly moved away. :-(

.

There's a lot more going on between the interior space and outer body skin on L322 than the Classic. SRS, electronics, sound deadening, etc.

Yes, not to mention bulk. The seats, door panels, dash and everything else is so much more bulkier.

Throw the kids back there? Heck no! I'll teach them to drive me! That's what booster seats are for! ;-)

Those are seats so you can have your minions shine your shoes while taking a break from your polo match.

Ahh I should have thought of polo. Was thinking about some sort of safari-esque shooting seats while Jeeves drives you around your private game compound.

That could work, too! Kind of reminds me of the movie Diggstown when Bruce Dern used the windshield of his Mercedes convertible as a perch for his shotgun while duck hunting.
