2009 Gumball 3000

out of all the million dollar supercars, we have one of our own in the rally! I imagine he will come in last.

Yeah, it's Doug Evilsizor from LRL. You can follow them on twitter, and he updates often with fun pics.

I dont know is that a Td5? If hes getting 20ish to the gallon and can use a map should do okay a white 110 seems to be unassuming even in the shittiest parts of the world. I would gotten a big UN sticker for the side of it.

Made it further than half of the other guys, but the Hammers won.

I'm sure it will attract less attention than this will but with all the decals (required for the rally?) it still stands out pretty well...

I also see that Burt Reynolds has entered as the Bandit

And I think this entrant (can you really call this a low rider?) has more ground clearance than the 110?!?

All those cars were swarming around Santa Monica this weekend. i would think the goal of this race would be to travel as quickly as possible without attracting attention. Not going to happen in the Gold Bugatti Veryon i saw. He might have a chance "under the radar"

long range fuel tank and tdi would be perfect!

I like how they chose to take the 110. Because obviously when you enter to run the rally, you probably have to give your qualifications. so saying you are from LRL mag makes you think that you will run a tricked out Range Rover Sport, lowered with like 24 inch rims and some crazy ass body kit. yet he took the 110. I dig.

Doesn't a td5 only get like 25 mpg? I mean great for a defender but a lot of supercars can get close to that and don't need to be in low range to go up a driveway if you know what I mean. On a side note, I race with a guy who did this race one in a lambo. He tried to drive like the I-70 was one big race track. made it 2 states before cracking the car up. I think slow (relative) and steady at a brisk pace is the way to go.

I always wanted to come over and do thegumball in a tricked out double cab td5, remapped, long range tanks 500mile plus range!, or I'd love to do it in something like a Bowler Nemesis.

But it's not really a race right? I skimmed the site and looks like it's a celebrity get together where they just travel between the parties.

Well guys, LRL successfully ran the Gumball with the 110. What a blast... I feel sorry for Doug, Peter and Ben who had to roll in it the entire way. I was fortunate enough just to pickup on the last leg with my LR3.

We'll be doing a recap on the BLOG that covers the highlights including us drag racing the TDI and my LR3 at the West Palm Speedway. LOL! What a site!

The 110 was the hit of the race in more ways than one!
