i drive a 2003 M5 as daily driver...almost 70k on the clock and she drives like new, actually better! Handling is great, tight and fast!! Plus plenty of room for the family and perfect match of lux and sport

I have the e60 but used to have an e28 and have driven both the e34 & e39 as well as know a lot of techs. I would definitely say to go for the e39.

All of them are cool in their own way but the e28s tend to have a lot of electrical problems.

I always loved the e34 but I never felt quite as much "a part of the car" if you will. None that I ever drove gave me that confident & comfortable feeling that all the other BMW's I have ever driven gave me. Also, techs I have spoke to say these have their fair share of electrical problems as well.

The e39 is a phenomenal vehicle! Great look, still quite modern looking for those who that is important to, more powerful, available in all wheel drive (although that probably doesn't matter much to you being in SC) and have that BMW feeling that I felt the e34 was missing from the driver's seat.
