2005 LR D3 (LR3) radiator
Our 05 D3 with 92k on the clock developed a small leak on the top hose fitting on the rad (pencil showing a crack), so ordered a new rad one to replace. When I removed the top hose the plastic felt a bit soft than broke away (the other pic). At least no bits fell into the engine.
So if you have a early D3 as a keeper I would check this out before....... it falls apart on you. The plastic on this felt more like compressed cardboard than plastic.
Want to give a thanks to navydevildog for which the shop apprentice (er-in-doors) found your write up on "how to change your belts" on the LRR forum which she read and told me all about it over my shoulder.
Next will be the thermostat housing and hoses.
Now I have to return the second new radiator as I ordered two not knowing who's was going to turn up first and we are suppose to be on the road tonight. Bloody bank holidays. And all this bloody rain we have had here in Texas and UPS and FedEx pulling trucks off the road.
I wish I had the time to do a write up on how to replace the rad but language would not be allowed, just saying remove the air box first and a lot of tilting and pulling and pushing of pipes, hoses and electric wires to the side will be needed.
