2002 D2 is this a good deal?

I found a 2002 D2 for $5500 wuth 75k miles. Great looking interior, minor scuffs on the boby panels. Test drove, runs great, ac works, no ticking or knocking, never got hot.
Uderside has only minor surface rust on the frame welds.
Is this a good deal?

if the interior is clean and no real bad oil leaks and clean body ...YES it is a good deal
get under it and look at the head gasket area for oil or coolant leak .. make sure the central locking works and all doors operate correctly other thank that your good ...... if it needs that work then cut 2 grand off the top

Factor the price of replacing the head gaskets into the cost if they haven't been done. You'll be much happier if you just go ahead and get it done before there is a problem. It's not a matter of if but when they fail. I wish I had done that.

That said, I'd see this more in the $4k - $5k range.

It looks like its been In a front end collision? Or is the hood popped? For 5500 it needs to be clean, have maintenance records and a new front driveshaft and head gaskets done. If not plan on two things that need to be done soon. The drive shaft can go and slam into the transmission housing.

If it's something you really want take it to a mechanic to check out the engine. I recently bought a 2004 D2 and it had a slipped sleeve. It was supposedly checked out by LR mechanics...I just received a letter in the mail reminding me how 'our trained technicians will do all essential inspections'. Take it to a good shop...just not a dealer shop...IMO. Good Luck.

The hood is pooped open on the picture.
The front bumper needs to be replaced, the bottom center is cracked.
There are no service records. The car fax states it was bought in San Juan PR.
There is a gap in the car fax from 2004 to 2009.
No report of an accident.
The bull bar is bent a little.

Should I run away from this?

IMO the only thing that matters is that it is rust free, has a clean interior, and the body is straight. Mechanical stuff on a Disco is cheap to fix if you do it yourself, but interior trim pieces and such are expensive to replace.

A bumper from RN is $600 and it needs tires.
I estimate new hoses, belt, thermostat, fluids, bumper and tires, I'm looking at $2300
to get it to where I want it...

I have looked at 5 Discos in the past few weeks.
Each one has it's own unique issues.
I have kept my Defender alive for 8 years, head gaskets to wheel bearings (done all the work myself)
I just don't know of I will have the time for a "project" Discovery.
I am amazed of the condition of some of these Discos...people let the go to sh!t.
There $$$, take care of them...

This truck has a 4.0L
I thought these engines were strong and did not suffer from dropped liners like the 4.6L from 03-04

So does my '03! I bought it after a liner slipped on the 4.6 and I stuck a fresh 4.0 in there.
