2001 TD5 110 spotted in SF Peninsula

Hey all, I've seen a D110 TD5 Bonatti Grey driving around Pacifica a number of times and when I went to the dealership this tues, I saw again, this time it was in for a new starter. I talked to the Parts Manager, who checked the vin, and it he said that it is says its a 2001 Land Rover 110 TD5 RHD, and that no one changed the vin to make it a 1974 or 1975. I was wondering if its anyone here? I was wondering how were you able to register and issure it? Was it an act of God? or did Benjamin Franklin and his dead friends help you out? Sorry to be nosey, I just want to know how I too, can bring in a new Land Rover Defender 110. I must say, it was a great sight to see that Defender.

There is somebody in San Rafael who has been listing a newer, Bonatti Grey 300tdi 90 on Craigs List lately (http://www.craigslist.org/nby/car/167690482.html). I have sent them a couple of emails asking how it got into the country, but no response. I`d be interested to see this 110 in Pacifica as well

I think it hit here at one time too, stayed up for about a day and a half before it got pulled.

I've seen the bonnati 110 rolling around a couple times too. There seems to be no shortage of people that have pulled some sort of stunt to get these things in the country. I'm even more surpised a LR dealer would look at it. Ah well, money talks around here perhaps more than anywhere else I know.

The guys at Land Rover Redwood City are cool guys, well the Techs and Parts Dept are cool guys, but the sales staff are......... uh lets just say they put a LR3 and Range Rover and RRS on rims in the show room and try to hide the Defenders that show up every now and then........ but anyways they're really some cool guys and are knowledgable chaps. I'm still in awe that the vin still says its 2001 TD5 Defender, I mean thats like a work of god to have that and have it registered in California no less, I thought it would have been changed or something.
