Sorry, should've been more clear. Just the motor.

Snicker. Either way, the automotive press seems good about it. I bet it would be complicated to do without the new firewall and stuff. You got a line on a used one?

When I rode in one it was unimpressive for me. Maybe different running the skinny pedal and I only rode along in one a the Jungle track Gaydon. It seemed like a tuner box special to me. Would like to try one again though. It definitely makes issues for the engine bay.

I'd like to see Ta ta sht cn it and give us some ltrs to work with. Before everything else makes ahead of it to far. The underdog needs to at least keep the lead in eyesight sometime towards the end of the race. To stand a chance.

You should see how those things are stuffed into a Defender engine bay... crazy lack of space. It may be a good engine but if you are thinking you are going to plop one of those into an NAS 90... think again. Anything can be done, but that it gonna suck, especially when the 300 Tdi or 2.8 PS drop in so easily.

No, not thinking of putting in the D90. Going another route. Thanks for the info.

Follow-up Post:

Okay, what about this: A 2.5L turbo diesel. I was told that before the 200 Tdi, that LR put turbo kits on the 2.5 NA diesel. I thought this was a no-no.

They actually called it the 2.5 Diesel Turbo (on the order of the words changed). Frankly I know nothing about the engine, only that it was a stand-in between the NA Diesel and the advent of the 200. I've only seen one, and I had the impression it wasnt just a 2.5 with a turbo slapped on, but then again, maybe it was.

Oh, looks like an EZ swap! Remove the back door from one truck and install it on the new one.

Neil,
I think these units were oookay, but suffered big time if the maintenance wasn't just so. Doesn't make the power of a tdi either.

What is materially different besides the hood and bulkhead?

Couldn't one source a non-NAS bulkhead, hood and drivetrain and mount to an NAS truck?

Sure, but I think that counts as "major modifications"...

Neil,

Congrats on your purchase ! A little rough and and an engine that may be tough to get parts for but the price was right. I gave JK a heads up you will be calling for assistance on that side. Sorry I couldn't answer from the blackberry mail box is full.
