Check out the plenum air hose at the 4:32. That was swapped out with the newer NLA design that everyone is clamoring over.

some more color...

in case yall were interested...

The LR guy (owned two D90s) at motoexotica called me back and he gave me a little more background on this. He said this is one of 14 vehicles that a plastic surgeon (former engineer) in STL bought new and had bagged in storage units. Apparently this guy didn't have a wife or kids and the trust has worked with motoexotica on other classic vehicles. The trust brought the D90 to them about four months ago and they are intending to put it up on ebay next week. He reiterated that the bank/ trust has apparently done due diligence on the estimated auction value and they have arrived at somewhere near $250k and are expecting it to go to a Jay Leno type collector. He also mentioned that the Dr. requested that the sticker not be put on the window and that the dealership not perform the inspection whereby they wipe off all the chalk marks (i forgot the abbreviation he used). Also, apparently Land Rover magazine is doing an article on the truck.

$250,000 would certainly set a precedent.

Jeff I agree completely. I'm perfectly happy with my 97 that I can drive and enjoy. It will be a cool addition of someone's collection.

One neat thing with seeing this in person was to see what mine looked like 18years ago and 100k miles less. No wear and tear!

that one was actually created by Pixar ( hence the cost ) and sits firmly in the uncanny valley

Just don't loose site of the value or "rarity". This is no longer about the value of a defender, and it's appeal might not even be because of the style that we all love. This is a "jay Leno" sort of piece at this point and could well go for that sum. And I doubt it will ever be truly driven. Still cool going to collections and museums and seeing great classics in this shape-- there is even a value in that to me...
