I only think there were a handful kinda like the Arles in 94, and they are only brought in during 97. Also like some of the black 95's that had leather seats.

Off the Defender Registry site:

'97 Defender 90 Automatic Station Wagons and Soft Tops

LRNA intended to import 1000 Station Wagons and 1500 Soft Tops between December 1996 and Sept 1997. First was to be 500 Station Wagons, then the 1500 Soft tops starting in April 1997, and ending with 500 more Station Wagons.
LRNA has published that they imported 1499 Soft Tops and 1000 Station Wagons (not including the Willow Green's below).

It was posted on the the CSO list that the following was the distribution of Station Wagon colors:

102 Red

I have not been able to confirm this though.
One 1997 D90 was sold in Canada.
Five 1997 D90s are reported to have been imported by LR Hess Rafz, CH and are in Switzerland (as of 11/97)
MSRP: Soft Top: $32,000 and Station Wagon: $34,500

I like that info from read especially the sales costs..
2005 to 1997 is 8 years and the 1997 D90 has retained at worst 88% of its value (based on the ST model selling today at $28,000) to, at best grown to 140% its value (keep seing these $42,000 prices on 1997s). 'Course with all the add ons, this is an unscientific game but not bad. The average car depeciates what, 50% in 4-5 years and 80% in 8 years.

An argument to use with my wife... "but honey, its cost effective and like driving for free!"

That's my color. They only did British Racing Green in 1997, and only on the Soft Top. Grand total....only 439.

Actually 97 STs in BRG is a more common color. What you almost never see is red 97 ST or SW, I believe these are the least common.

Shhhhhhh, don't tell the super rare limited edition willow owners. What were there, like 200 of those things?

My favorite D90 Limited Edition was the the 100 Black '94ST's. Those actually are rare.

My beast is a Summer of '94 limited edition. For those who don't know the limited features were: Beluga Black paint, Ash Grey leather seats (including a rear bench seat), a Surrey top. They also offered optional Stainless steel side steps and a stainless A-Bar. When I bought mine almost a year ago it hadd everything except the surrey top. I assume a previous owner still has it sitting in their garage If you have the October 2004 issue of Land Rover Monthly there is a picture of one on page 105.

Since buying the beast I replaced the A-Bar and factory bumper with an ARB bull Bar. Based on the ARB saves Defender post in this section I'm glad I did. I did save the old front end so that should I or a subsequent owner (When I'm DEAD) want to restore it to factory they can. As for a surrey top, I just ordered a Badger II Top. With the sides rolled up it gives a surrey effect with the advantage of quick deploy windows.

I took a trip up to PRB (Peoples Republic of Boulder) Saturday to pick up the bumper I bought from Mike Jablonski he has a black '94 with black leather seats. It looks pretty good.

I also spied the orange '94 on my way to Breck. today....owned by Gil Perry ... now thats the rarest of them all.

Sorry, my earlier post wasn't properly checked for grammar. All uses of the word "beast' should have been capitolized: Beast. The reason is that is my Defender's name. Beast. Why Beast... because it seemed to fit. Wild, not domesticated, etc.

I think I pinned it down to 5 one offs.

A rioja red 97 and the four 94 hella editions.

1. orange owned by Gil Perry
2. arizona blue currently at ECR owned by some ball player
3. Lazer Red (location unknown but sold in cali)
4. Java green (location unknown but sold in cali)

The 94 black ones are nice. There is one local here that has very low miles.

The red and green hella editions have been on my auction watch for a long time.

As far as other rareities there were two 110s painted black by hornberg. One was on ebay a couple months ago.
