Yup, that was for sale near me a few months back. Went and looked at it for Pipermalibu. It had more rust than advertised. Also it's a POE top, (has badge #739, says nothing about POE here http://www.lrfaq.org/Defender/D90ST.db.501.html, but I'm not saying it isn't one as I believe in the other thread someone pointed out the VIN # does fall within the correct range). I'm trying to remember the problems with it as I called PM while I was looking at it to let him know all of the problems I saw. IIRC the paint job was crap, as in part of it has been resprayed and the colors weren't a match. The color of the top also didn't match the body which was hard to see in the pictures but obvious in person. The undercarriage has also been spray painted black, in some cases right over dirt, to help cover up some areas of rust. There were mileage reporting issues as well http://www.auctiondirectusa.com/rale...DV2281RA939434.
Here's a link to more pictures http://s90.photobucket.com/albums/k2...D90/?start=all

It ran good and the AC blew cold, but for the amount of work needed for just the visible rust and other issues, too much $$ (IMHO).

Here's PM's thread http://www.defendersource.com/forum/...ad.php?t=35523, I recommended he pass on it for what they were asking. There's also a link to the carfax report (only as good as what's reported, and who's inputting the information) for this D-90 on page 2 of the thread link.

No problem, I spent a couple of hours looking it over and I think I was making the salesman nervous. Some areas of the tub and under carriage had extensive rust that I could have easily pushed my fingers through had I tried.

Honestly have no idea, it was on there when I bought it. It's well built, but there are no markings on it. Always wondered who made it (sorry, I don't have a better picture of just the carrier)

Yes, I saw the thread and found his obituary. Last time I spoke with him was a few weeks before his death. Never got to meet him in person, but seemed like a pretty nice guy who was excited about his new (to him) rover. Sad for those he left behind.
