With or without the lights and the one off color, The real value added is due the fact that ECR did a lot of work to it.

I'm not selling the vehicle (or defending any pricing of it) and I don't think anyone claimed it was "all original". The web page link clearly shows that a boat load of work was done to it.

We removed all the Hella 3000s at the original customer's request.

The "Hella" edition is mainly about the 1 off factory color. What that adds to the value (if anything) is up to the potential buyer.

The current owner of the 90 asked us about selling the 90 on consignment for him, but we could not agree on a price that I thought the vehicle would sell for. IMO this is one of those deals where the owner likes the truck, but if someone comes along with enough money then they would sell it. I don't think it is really "for sale" to sell.
Trying to get things straight here...don't recall talking to you guys about a price on consignment....do recall you contacting me about a client of yours looking to buy a truck that matched these specs. Now I'll assume the number you offered me was wholesale to you. So saying that you most likely would buy this truck for that number and then sell if for something probably more than that.

Lets all get 1 thing straight here. I have a 94 Defender 90 Hella Edition here for sale. It is the ONLY factory blue truck in existence today. It is a beautiful blue paint and not a boring factory paint color available back then. This truck stands heads and shoulders above most Defenders out there. Comment the way you will on what this truck may or may not be. But it is "seriously" for sale and until I here from anyone with any cojones big enough to make a serious offer worth considering, this thing can be a figment of most of your imaginations.

We are asking $100K for the truck

Annnnd, so it begins on the typical downward spiral that we have all known to love and embrace as the ongoing lives (or lack thereof) on the soap opera we call Days of our defender source lives....

This whole thing makes me laugh. ECR does amazing work but this isn't a truck I would want anything to do with.

It was 1 of 4 limited edition trucks which made it valuable if it was original and unmolested, but much like my cousin Frank, it has been molested and involved in at least one big accident. Two if you count the one Frank had in his jean shorts the other day.

This truck has one thing going for it and that's the ECR sticker on the back. Someone with a lot of money will see that and say well it might have been screwed with but at least I know it was done right. ECR might be the only restoration shop that can counter a bad title. Then again maybe none of the accidents this thing was in are on the carfax which would be a good thing.

And whats the big deal about ECR selling it for a profit? Isn't that what you are doing? Not a chance in hell you bought this thing at an estate sale for 100k. You are banking on the ECR name to make your money. No reason they shouldn't make money off their own reputation as well. Plus they have the clients.

To be honest I'm not sure why you would even list this truck here or craigslist or Grindr. Put it on Hemmings or Dupont Registry and hope someone who is looking doesn't want to wait for ECR to build one and will take yours because it's available now.

If that doesn't work post a pic of you using the winch to pull up the previous owner's tombstone because I'm pretty sure he is rolling over in his grave at the thought his family sold this at an estate sale to begin with.

I'm thinking the owner meant "Arizona Blue". However, I believe that ECR repainted the 90, so calling it factory paint wouldn't be accurate. Perhaps "repainted in original factory color" would be a more fitting description.

Arles Blue is the normal blue, but like the Hella Editions, one could only get one in 1994 (at least on a soft top at any rate).

That's amazing.

But seriously I'm glad my truck didn't come with this much drama.

I was aware of what he meant... But what he said was incorrect...

This reminds me of the guy with the "1-owner" D-110 first negotiating with Keith then here on the threads. Great results for that guy... but this should command top dollar. Looks like a nice D.

Here's my take on what happened. Guy buys cool Defender let's say for $50-60k, posts it on Defender Source as it's a pretty nice Hella edition and wants to show it off, who can blame him. One poster in his original thread alluded to it could be worth "6 figures" as a pure random guess. Guy now thinks it's worth $100k for sure. Tells his wife hey I made a smart purchase, this toy is actually worth $100k. A few days later wife says, you know that $100k could mean a new master bed/bath addition we've talked about. And here we are - his $100k Defender for sale.

Pure speculation of course but I bet I'm not too far off.

Leave the seller alone! He's owned it for maybe 2-3 years and deserves the 50k flip.
Good thing for him it's on LI Craigslist with the summer season coming… he might actually get his price.
