Nothing in my opinion. Rust, wear, and how it has lived means more. Hella edition means about the same to me as LL Bean edition on a Subaru Outback.

If the truck was bone stock and a hella truck it would command a nice premium and be pretty rare. This truck is nice and has been well cared for since ECR did the restore but it's a highly modified truck. If ECR didn't do the work I would think the value would be severely dinged for the off road mods. But since they did and since I think it sold at one point in the 70s if not more I'm sure it will command more now.

Pros:
ECR gone through
Hella truck makes it rare

Cons:
Highly modified

Unknown:
Carfax

It will sell for big money I'm sure.

What would make a Hella truck special is if it had original paint and original engine (low miles a plus) and of course throw on a few Hella's.

This is an ECR restored truck that happens to at one time have been a Hella special paint truck. Restored 9 years ago though but nonetheless you know it was done right.

I think it lost most of the "Hella" value once it was repainted and new engine put in (plus modded up) but an ECR restoration is worth nearly what the Hella could have been. Without knowing the specifics of miles, condition/rust, carfax/accidents, etc no telling though - thus an appropriate spot in chit chat until the OP returns with a price.

Would assume it has the 4.6 installed by ECR 9 years ago, original motor was replaced.

Here's a link with the commentary to go along with the pics:
Defender 90 upgrades

Here's more info on the miles before resto:
"This 90 had over 90,000 miles and numerous accidents under its belt..."

Maybe rare, but not in a way that would matter even to most Rover folks. Some paint and some lights and you have a copy.

To each his own.

While it looks nice from that glamor shot and description (most do), how can one price this from the cheap seats? A lot can happen over 9 years. It could be a another high mileage crusty jalopy or a diaper wiped garage queen, or anything in between.
Impressive build, but not much original anymore. Note the SG front link suspension, overdrive, ARBs, etc..

It was a solid truck when we re-did it. It had some issues as all Defenders do, but it wasn't a beater to start with.

The red lever is an Ashcroft Underdrive, not an overdrive.

It looked really good in 2010 when we sold it to Mr. Mury who lovingly cared for it and kept it in top shape.
He then passed away and it was sold at his estate auction (I do not know what that sale price was).

I predict that evilfij doesn't buy it at 100k.

Are those lights on the front even Hella? Take Hella out of the picture, 70k D90?

Not sure I would try to market a 100k vehicle on Craigslist, seems like eBay would help fetch top $.

The lights on the 90 now are the IPF units that the original customer wanted on there.
We removed all the Hella 3000s at the original customer's request.

The "Hella" edition is mainly about the 1 off factory color. What that adds to the value (if anything) is up to the potential buyer.

The current owner of the 90 asked us about selling the 90 on consignment for him, but we could not agree on a price that I thought the vehicle would sell for. IMO this is one of those deals where the owner likes the truck, but if someone comes along with enough money then they would sell it. I don't think it is really "for sale" to sell.

I'm not sure I would go that far. The Hellas can always be bolted back on. What makes it unique is the original color.

It is one of the 4 Hella 90s. What lights it has on it doesn't change that.
There is not another Arizona Blue 90 from the factory in existence.
Sticking some plastic Hella 3000s on it really wouldn't take that much.

Galv chassis (not the original chassis)
Original bulkhead
4.6 Rover V8

I'm not selling the vehicle (or defending any pricing of it) and I don't think anyone claimed it was "all original". The web page link clearly shows that a boat load of work was done to it.

I think this is they key insight.

Recall that the original post says "my wife and I have decided to sell..."
