1993 110 on eBay

Hey guys, been a while since I last posted. I have been eyeballing a 1993 NAS 110 on eBay, it has been listed several times and not sold at 59K, and I assume you guys have seen as well. I see that the hinges are rusty, otherwise looks pretty good. I need some help understanding, why this hasn't sold. I know these are the "pinnacle" of Defenders, well at least that is what I think, and looking at it , seems very reasonable . Yet, it has lingered for some time. Anyone know this truck? Any reason to disregard the thoughts of purchasing. Any input would be appreciated. Thomas

Low curb appeal for $59k... Flaking paint, rusty wheels and hinges... All easy fixes for a well taken care of truck! Never know what else is hiding hat isn't visable... That also didn't get taken care of!

Read up on NAS 110s - they are desirable but have lots of rust problems that tend to outweigh the purchase cost.

It'll probably take another $20k to make that truck nice again. It needs to be taken apart and rebuilt.

Thomas, this is excellent advise from all who have responded. If you are really interested, have the seller send you pics of the rear cross-member from underneath and the footwells under the carpet. That should tell you even more then the pictures on abey now.

i have an NAS 110. got mine before ROWs were legal. unless you are a total purist looking for a full original rebuild, go ROW. you pay a premium just for that VIN, which will alone will buy you alot of resto progress on a ROW.

nothing special about an NAS110 other than a collectable vin and plaque.

This truck has a lot of potential ... you need to have it inspected but if the footwells, rear cross, bulkhead and door bottoms are all pretty decent the rest is largely cosmetic.

The hinges are a trivial change ... and the the remainder is just a $200 detail away from looking pretty decent.

When you start to hit $50k plus you attract the buyers with more disposable income, less time / capability to do work themselves and wanting unicorn trucks.

Most detail shops could make this look like a unicorn if you changed the hinges, painted the bumper and refinished the wheels.

Thanks guys. Haven't had a defender in a few years , but suddenly got the fever again. I think given the advice here I will pass. Was hoping a 1k hinge restore would do the trick, but clearly not likely. And I am definitely not in a position to put another 20k into a 60k vehicle. I think I will start looking ROW. Some of these restores are awesome. Thanks guys
