1991 RRC Hunter - Value?

Looking at a 1991 Hunter. Looks pretty solid and unmolested. 180k. They're asking $5k. If it's really rust free (need to check) what's it worth?

It's bone stock throughout. Going to take a closer look this weekend.

I wouldn't let my Hunter go for less than 6K, but then again I have the best one so...

RRC's are climbing in value - an unmolested one or gently modified and not beat can be worth 5-10k.

I'd say if its TRULY solid and no rust (lift the carpets and check EVERYWHERE) then it's easy 3-5k. Maybe more if the cloth interior is mint etc.

In the end it's what it's worth to you of course, but RRC's are going up if they are not rotted.

Let me also add that those early 3.9 motors are tight.
They have the old style triple row HG bolt pattern.
180k miles is nothing; often they will go over 200K before needing headgaskets and the like.
Unscrew the sills and pull the carpets up in the front floor areas and poke around.
Unscrew the carpet from the tailgate and check the cargo floor.
Check the outboard rear seatbelt anchor point.

Plenty of threads about rust spots on RRCs.

don't forget to check the dip where the spare tire sits...there are a lot more "little spots" to check than a defender.

Just sold my Hunter with 145k for a bit more than that... probably one of the best Rovers I've owned (and the best color, in my opinion), but couldn't keep all the Rovers. The 3.9 in that was great. No rust either.

From what I have been seeing, that sounds about right. If/ when I get another Rover, I will be on the look out for a Hunter.

There is a restoration going on here that can give you a pretty good look at many of the things in an RRC.

You guys just made my day as my dad and I just picked up a 1 owner completely stock except the radio 1990 RRC with 205K on the clock and looks like it never saw dirt, been in CA its whole life ZERO RUST(i looked everywhere, i mean everywhere), everything but the driver's seat works, no warning lights, interior including headliner is solid, drove it home and it was solid. Got it for $1500

THats a deal!

Buff it out, detail it and eBay it for $10k. Ha ha. Or enjoy it and know what you've got. These trucks are made to be used - have fun!
