haha, it's funny because I am going to vegas this weekend. According to RMR where I bought the car it's rebuilt, which is not a CA salvage. They also happened to sell it to me with a giant rusted out hole in the frame and in the wheel well (pictures attached, my fingers are inside of the frame next to the cat). I missed these because I bought it while I was working in Alaska and relied on their word and the word of the pre-inspection that there wasn't any rust on the car. I fucked up, I was too hasty to own my dream car that I dove in without making sure i wouldnt break my head on the dive. Turns out I broke my head...

Regardless I am going to use this terrible experience as a blessing in disguise. Im going to spend the money to fix it up as best as I can, fix the frame, the wheel well, fresh coat of paint (maybe even go Fire Edition on the paint) a lap dance and a bottle of Jack. I can't fix the cars digital history, but I can fix the car. I am going to make it everything i've ever wanted in a car and keep it until I die, then get buried in it.

doesnt look too bad. 18k should go far. get some new rubbers while youre at it. probably good to throw on a new set of shocks/springs and bushings if its still got the original.

whats the bulkhead look like? cant believe rmr didnt see the issues you found. pretty obvious to me.

wonder how much doing a galvy swap on your own would save?

anyhow, post up pics as the work gets done.

Haha awesome man!

You might not get an ECR restoration (or whatever your left coast equavalent is). But for 18K i'd imagine you can make it pretty damn nice!

Good luck with.

PS I dont care about the before in after pictures of the truck, do post pics of the lap dancers though!

I know. My truck is shot. I don't drive it anymore because I don't think it is safe with the delamination.

Funny enough my truck is pretty rust free other than that and it is the second in la that I have seen with the issue. Other is even cleaner than mine

I didn't know four oaks did frame swaps. Are you sourcing what you need yourself? I would do stainless fuel lines while you are at it.

Four oaks is fine but I would get the parts you need yourself. They rarely go genuine

I applaud you for attaching a pic of one of the rusted-out areas in your For Sale ad, but you really should disclose the known salvage history on the truck in your ad, too. I know you're trying to just put the best image of the truck forward, but it also looks a little shady when you do not disclose it. Almost like not disclosing known rust issues.

In all fairness to him...

Resonable person standard for defender fanatics on this site states that you would know the history of this truck before you bought it. He discussed it enough.

And, he doesnt sound like a shady character. RMR sounds shady to me if they did not, in fact, disclose issues as he stated.

Truck is sold.

Thankfully staying local. Would have hated if LA lost a rare green defender.

You may as well tell us since you already swept the rug from under Josh by being the one to tell us it's sold.
