15-Part Series - A 4x4 is Born

Some of you have probably seen these, but I stumbled upon this series of videos on Youtube called "A 4x4 is Born"
It's a little hokey (sorta like an episode of Wheeler Dealers) but I guess that's that cheeky Brit humor.

Anyway, there is some really good close-ups on how certain things go together and would probably be a good think to add as a "sticky" in the Technical Discussion section, so when a basic question is asked, one of the Yota-like Defender "beautiful minds" could simply say "refer to Video #5 at 15:35 and you'll see what I'm talking about...."

Anyway, here is the link to the first one and the rest should be easy to find.

**** In Part 5 they visit Ashcroft factory and take you through a R380 rebuild and also chronicle the hot-dip galvanizing of a chassis.

Yeah I think he used to host them all, or at least had them up on his page for a long time.

I have the whole series on my laptop hard drive, along with a MG is born. I watch them when I need motivation to work on the toys.

He lost me with the jigsaw puzzle checker plate tub liner. That and the seats that put the steering wheel in your nuts.

A friend of mine, Drew Swoboda is a master tech @ Land Rover Richmond. He built a 100 from a 110 5 door tub and pair of doors he got from me. He built a 100 inch defender pickup on a rr classic chassis- looks pretty cool to me. A couple of pics. He sent me these on Monday so its still a work in progress. Drew is who built the stroked 5 liter V8 for Will Tillery's 130.

I have wondered if a 100 inch 4-door could be built off a 4-door 110 body, shorter rear trailing arms with a cut-down tub, as opposed to the 2-door 100 inchers.

An excellent series, I have the series on DVD and love it. Mark has also done a few more non Land Rover 'Is Born' series which are well worth looking up
