110 Aux Fuel Tank ??

Has anyone installed the aux fuel tanks that fit in the right hand rear corner of the wheel arch? Its as 12.7 gallon tank that is a gravity fed set up that is inline between the filler neck and the stock tank. It looks like it might conflict with the cage in the NAS 110. Any advice or info would be appreciated.

Also, anyone have one they want to sell??

thanks

Reese- I have a 110 with the second tank under the pass seat from factory, or I have a custom aluminum tank that fits under the seatbox, which would need a transfer pump to the main tank, an easy install. PM if interested in either.

Thanks but I want to keep my seat box and really like the gravity fed option.

This has been on my want list for a while. That's why I'm working on getting rid of that NAS evap tank back there, to make room for this arch tank. subscribed.

ECR sold a used one off a truck a couple years ago for $150 and I'm still kicking myself for it.

Yea, I saw that. Heck of a deal. I wonder if we could get a few made up on this side of the pond for a reasonable price?

I looked into it with a fab shop locally, and they came back with a rough estimate of $500-$600, which is the price new from the UK (not including shipping), so I gave up. No reason to reinvent the wheel for the same price.

I just purchased one from Safari Equip through Lucky8. I have not installed it yet but the install will be on a ROW 110. I do not know if it fits a NAS 110. I also purchased the water tank. FYI neither tank came with installation instructions and I am told there are none. The fuel tank does not come with new rubber hoses connecting the new tank to the filler neck and the main tank inlet. You will need to cut and reuse the existing rubber connection. I found fitment instructions for the MANTEC tank on the LR4X4 forum. Installation seems straight forward.

I have the water tank, and it's pretty straight forward. When you install the fuel tank, can you let us know what clearance there is in the back. that's where the cage interference will be.

When I finally get to doing this, I'll be replacing my breather and fill hose with viton.

Dennis,

Any chance you can post some measurements on the tank so I can check on the fit? I think the tank has a notch out in the corner that may be the attempt to fit around the cage structure.
Thanks

Reese, I am out of town Friday and Saturday. I will try and get a diagram and dimensions on Sunday and post next week. Yes there is a notch at the RHS rear of the tank. If Safari -Equip's tank is built like MANTEC's. MANTEC'S fitting instructions note "Mantec Long Range Fuel Tank for Defender 110 With Roll Cage Rebate Capacity 10 gallons (44 litres)"

Reese and Mark, here are the dimensions. I based most of them from the centerline of the filler neck for a constant point of reference. If you need any clarification let me know. I believe the side marker light and bulb receptacle on the NAS 110 may sit high enough on the rear quarter panel so the tank fits below. If it is accessible from inside the truck it won’t be a problem. The ROW 110 does not have side marker lights. The D-90 side maker sits low on the panel.

Mark, when you installed the water tank how far forward from the rear of the truck is the filler neck? I do not think I will be able to reinstall the LHS side facing bench seat. I was hoping to keep it in for now. My nieces and nephews like sitting in the back when we take them hiking/climbing.

Hope this helps.

Dennis

Thanks Dennis,
I assume the outlet is at the low point on the back side of the tank. Thanks

so for the water tank, you need to be clear 7" forward from the license plate to clear the filler mouth.

heres some pics of my right arch space with catch tank now removed. the rollbar ties to the crossmember evenly, so clearing crosember clears it all. the side marker is above wheel well so no issue there.

Update: I just measured from the center of the fill back to where the rollbar ties into the crossmember and it is exactly 7 3/4", so it looks like the tank is a perfect fit based on your pdf illustration!

I looked into installing one of these aux tanks on my ROW truck with a CT cage, and there is definite interference with the cage. Same applies to the NAS cage. Any cage that bolts to the chassis outriggers will have this problem.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. Your best option is one of the Oz market long ranger tanks that run parallel to the chassis:

could you take a picture of that outrigger space so we could see how similiar the design is and confirm? or does it look just like the pic I posted? where is the interference at?

I'm not prepared to abandon hope on this yet. even if it means having the tank modified.
