1:35 Scale 110 Tithonus

So I have been working down in Texas, while my 110 is back up in Maryland. Suffering Rover withdrawal and lacking the facilities or opportunity to start a full size project, I have decided to rekindle a childhood skill, and build a model of my Tithonus truck while I wait to get my real truck (and the rest of my belongings) relocated.

I have started with the recently released Defender Wolf Hard Top kit from HobbyBoss, and will be modifying the kit parts to be as close to my own truck as I can get it.

I will post the build progress on here as I go, just in case anyone is interested.

Here's the first set of pictures.

Sounds good. Don't forget to post pics when you get it. Should be reunited with mine in about three weeks, all being well I'm towing it from MD to south TX.

Just a few more update pictures. Build coming along nicely, quite a few small modifications needed to turn the RHD Wolf hard top into a LHD Tithonus.

300tdi engine built, but I better not fit it incase the feds don't like it. I feel a scratch build 2.5n/a is looming!

Nice! model building is very rewarding.. its also great because it demands alot of time, but not giant chunks of time. So having a model going on on a table somewhere is great for filling in those little gaps in the day or when you want to get away from it all and do something constructive, but might only have 10 minutes or so.

i built a 1:24 scale 88 this winter...

here's the chassis engine coming together....
[IMG][/IMG]

here are some more parts, out from painting and galv. All NOS on this build boys!!!
[IMG][/IMG]

starting on the weathering this is the fun part. (watered down brown, black, silver, greys etc etc.. mixed with a flat medium) ....
[IMG][/IMG]

starting the weathering on the body..(basecoat of silver, then topcoat of red. I used rubbing compound to "patina" through the red)

95% done!!

As she sits...

Kit supplied 300Tdi in the process of conversion to a 2.5N/A. Probably an engine swap that would never happen that way round in real life!

some nuts modeling there.. and its at 1:35 scale, the pics don't really show the (small!) size. Wish there were more 24 scale (larger) rover models ..

There's some really nice modeling work in that thread Jeff, I'd come across that myself a while back too. I'm trying to get my build as close as I can to the 110 on my driveway, hence altering the kit from the Wolf version.

Agreed about the 1:24 scale, I have found a company back in my home region of Lincolnshire, England, that produce 1:24 101 FC, 1/2 ton Airportable and MK1 and MK2 Sankey trailers, their kits look real nice indeed.
