07 defender 90

Just saw an 07 defender 90 online. They look awesome and I was wondering if anyone had any info on getting one to the U.S. I was looking into getting a 97ish but if they're making them again it might be worth it to buy a new one rather than an old one with high miles. Any suggestions?

I know of someone who got a new 110 into the US. They live in Mexico. They shipped it from Germany. $100K import tax into Mexico. They drive it across the border all the time. Tried to get the local LR dealer to install an AC in it. The dealer wouldn't touch it. Good luck.

You can't just bring one into the US. They never stopped making them in europe (or most places) but you can't get them here easily. Unless you want to spend a ton of $$ & time and probably have to pull some shady stuff with titles and VINs to get it here you are much better off just finding a nice '94, '95 or '97

Yeah, that's what I figured. I looked on landrover.com and there is a section on the web site to contact an export rep. to see if you could qualify for that. Anyway, probably wont happen. Has anyone heard of the Defender coming back to the U.S in the next few years? I guess I look for an older defender for now. I live in southern cal so if anyone hears of one for sale that sounds like a good deal let pass the info my way. Thanks

I wouldn't count on it...we won't see another Defender imported by LRNA into this country...not at least this generation. It would be a lot cheaper to buy a ultra low mileage NAS D90 and send it off to ECR to have whatever you can dream you want for it than to buy one abroad and bring it over...only to have it confiscated and crushed by the DOT.

I've looked at this for years. It's just not worth it unless you'll earn more money tomorrow than what it would cost to buy a '97 NAS with under 10K miles from Copley. If that's the case then by all means - give it a try!

Good luck with whatever you get.

I would love to get a 97 d90. I was just researching it and you've given me all the answers I need to hear. Now I know that the search is on for a 97. If you hear of anyone that's selling one let me know. Thanks

There has been a lot of fair priced 97 D-90's for sale here. Just keep your eyes open.

I've been looking online and it seems that I'll probably pay 30k to 35k for a good one.

THe 2007 into the US - agree with the comments that it is not likely. Best to read The Financial Times (London) as the pieces on Rover and Ford have quite a different slant than US based papers. Looking at the "new" Jeep, H3, Toyota etc, Ford missed an opportunity to lead with a Defender re-introduction. But as a company in turmoil, product ingenuity is not an option and present leadership is NOT focused on Rover. Rover is on the market and mortgaged to the hilt. Also, Land Rover complaints and errors per vehicle are industry leaders. Hard to be competitive. PLan for Ford - marginalise the Defender as a non-US vehicle (check), seperate LR and RR as high end options(check), concentrate on core US needs (check), Sell off Volvo, Jag, Rover for cash. Give Ford jr jr $1,000,000,000 pay out to piss off and continue excellent leadership skills with the Detroit Lion.

BUT - looking at the '07 it is sweet. Question. What about parting one and getting the bits n pieces as replacements. I really like the dash, and it is modular so easily adapted for "wrongly placed steering wheels. Anyone know about behind the fascade? Is this doable?

For the money, I would want a bowler rather than a stock 2007 D90. Get a 97, you won't be sorry.

I'm actually going to look at a white 95 this weekend. This will be the first time I have ever driven one. I'm not too sure what to look for and what not to look for but I know that I should buy the first one I see.
