We got out ahead of everyone Saturday with 4 trucks to break trail. Spent the entire day making the loop through the bypass and around the ridge to the top of the power lines and down. Sooo much recovery, we resorted to using my truck as deadweight behind the trax Series III to try and groom the trail. Broke a set of chains and radius arm bushings. Fixed everything Sunday AM along with other carnage and we went out again and did the full loop. Not as much recovery effort this time but was still substantial. Add that to the white knuckle moments on the ride home Sunday night with white-outs and a lack of any heat because I couldn't get the engine temp above 120 at 60mph due to the cold and wind, and it made for a hearty weekend...

Hope you guys made/make it safely home today. Chris, now I get to go do more snow removal in -4 without windchill. Winter is fun....not.

Will post some more video and pics when I finish hibernating.
Wait...so who has Bob Courtney's old Series III now? Or does Bob still own it? For some reason I thought it had sold on eBay earlier this year....

He still has it. He used it at the Romp to break the trail. Completed the loop on Sat.

Defenders did so much better in these conditions than D1s/L3s just sunk in the snow

Made it home to Chicago about 1.5 hours ago. That was a long drive.

A big thank you to the Lucky8 crew for letting me bum a ride with you guys.

Just made it back around 3:30 or so. Limped the truck home with the alternator putting out 12.2v.

I think I'm going to wait a bit to pull the alternator for the 4th time until sometime later this week... It's way too cold.

One of the huge holes in the trail which ate a bunch of trucks. Waist deep snow.

I didn't get a picture from the rear, but my entire rear driver's side 35" KM2 was swallowed.

Here are some of my pics from Winter Romp. I'll try to upload a few here, but until then these should do. I upped my game a little this year and brought a DSLR. It was great catching up with everyone!

Do you have a tilt shift lens or just a over active mouse finger?

The camera has a ton of built-in effects, and so I was experimenting with a few of them.

Zack, do you know who was taking photos/videos of my truck on that one downhill section we had to cut tracks in to keep the trucks straight? Would love to track those down.

Killer. Also, Bruce suspects the winch blew up my voltage regulator - I'm swapping a spare on today to see if that's actually what's up. We swapped a spare he had in the garage onto it, but it's still not putting anything out.
