Just did a little tune up for the long trek. New oil/filter, greased all the zerk fittings on the driveline, new diff and transfer case fluid. tomorrow ill see if i can find some MTL locally and do the tranny fluid as well. napa isnt open on sundays by me and they are the only ones that stock it round here.

I also finally replaced the crappy battery i had with a monster. 1000cca at 32 degrees and 930 at 0 degrees with 150 reserve got some nice new battery terminals as well. It starts much better now.

Tested the winch to make sure it was all in good working order, then took the dog to the park for a little. See pic

Just have to pack some bags, go through the equipment list and hit the road!

Current conditions according to Bruce:

As for the snow conditions. ...

With no wind breaks most of the snow blew across the road and landed in the swamp.

About ten inches of snow out in the woods.
Some bare spots some drifts. ground is solidly frozen
so that will help.

Weather dude is hinting at rain during the week...
So, should be interesting....

Bruce

Leaving Friday morning for camp.
It will take me the second half of the day to break into camp prior to the family arriving, so we will see you all at Big G's.
That's still on from 6 to 10am right?

Thanks - I'm actually driving up to Providence Thursday AM flying to Denver and back within 24hrs, then driving from Providence to Maine through the night. As long as the flights are on time I should be fine... Weather shows nothing until Saturday so I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Ha ha - I think I'm the only one leaving and heading "down" to the Romp. I'm a bit less then two hours north/east of Waterville. I'm heading down mid afternoon or so Friday.

Been working on the poor old disco - but she'll be ready. Gears locker and winch installed. What else could I possibly need?! I even plan to get her a nice shiny new state inspection sticker tomorrow. Legal even!

See you soon.

Who is broke down? (already)

My Brother in Law just called me from Maine. He saw a Land Rover broke down on the other side of I-95 with "something bad" hanging down from underneath. He said it looked like mine (So it was either a Defender or a Series) - and had MASS tags. He said it had a white top.

So it was not me - I am stuck here in Wash DC signing the "can't go to the Romp blues". But my heart goes out to the kindred spirit, stopped on the side of highway.

Someone stop and give the dude a hand.

Well, I know it's not me, because my driver backed out and I'm without a front diff. See you next year I guess.

If I had known this was going to happen I could have probably driven the puma, but not on short notice like this. Someone uses it too often...
