Ray, I forgot to tell you this last night, but do you recall the Jeep with the "damn tall" tags? It turns out the dude is 6' 10" or something and that's why the tags, less so than the height of the Jeep. But anyway, the relevance is he's doing the VOT

I have been road testing the 110 for the past week. I took her to a local car show Saturday and set up. All seems well with just a couple of small details to take care of. The real test is Thursday when I drive to NW Pa.
If she gets thru that....bring on Vermont.

Thanks Raub. Its been a long strange trip....but the rewards in the end are worth it. Now all I have to do is go find all the wrenches I launched during the transplant.....lol.
I am of the opinion that the original motor was very tired to start with. This one runs much smoother and quieter....as quiet as a 2.5 can. I actually heard my phone ring and talked on it while driving home last pm. Oh...and that newly re-cored radiator is the s**t! She ran nice and cool in 100f + temps all week.
See you shortly. Let us know when you get here and will head to the great white north!

Anyone that tall will have issue with height clearance on the trails...

Looks good Rick. Rocksliders? They may be needed.

Now that you finally have a real fuel filter and have routed the return and injector spill over properly back to the tank, it should run... they should hang the idiot that came up with routing the return back to the filter so it recirculates trapped air!

Imagine needing a diesel engine to run on fuel and not air.

Looking good Rick, and good luck with the event.

Sorry for the hijack on the damn tall thing. It turns out I got him mixed up with another dude (they were both at the OCC meeting). It's actually a guy named Rowdy who is doing the Vot, in an excursion no less! Really nice guy too. I didn't wheel with him but others say he did great in it at the Cove this weekend so I suspect he'll do fine. I don't think you'll miss him either

We'll have 2M going as well, will be good to have a common freq. Also appears the Rover community will have a very good representation there (a plurality at least) so it will be good to see everyone face to face (both in and out of the community)

We did a dry run over the weekend of the event with 15 trucks. The navigation is getting further refined to where you will only need to be able to use Avenza, but to your point, it won't be crystal until you are in the area where the maps are populated with your GPS pin point as an overlay. The Nav is quite easy and only issues you should have are a wrong turn or two in places where the intersections aren't clear, where you need to drive down a road to check the GPS overlay or use a compass on the direction finding. But it really will be straight forward. I'd recommend running as light or simple (camping) as possible. Some of the trails will get tough and if we get rain, VT mud is slick. You can provision along the route each day so you shouldn't require extra fuel cans, food, etc. It was buggy, but hopefully that gets better too. Campsites are excellent each night. Lot's of lakes or streams to take a dip in along the routes. I would stress that this isn't a race, these trails and their access border a lot of homeowners so everyone will need to be respectful (waving) and slow. You'll miss a lot of scenery if you are too focused on the trails. Tons of old root cellars, foundations and old stone walls along class 4 roads as well as the clear devastation from Irene 2 years ago. It will be a great event.

Thanks for the update; much appreciated. Totally with you on it not being a race-for us the event is centered around self-deploying ~550mi, participating in 4 days of an event, and then re-deploying ~550mi.

Can't wait!

Ugh, makes me sick to watch that. The only wheeling I am doing here in Japan in my Pajero is navigating the mall parking lot.

Well...did the 1k mile trip to Erie and back. Truck ran flawless. Averaged 24 mpg both ways. All left to do is some wiring and start packing. While there I "helped" break in an atv track on my cousins property. All in all very happy with the overall trip...and I didn't hurt myself unlike Robert.
