I'm sure that will be the case, and sure that your perspective will be the common point of view.

I am also sure that when people put forth the kind of effort, $$ and time to enter an event like this and they are faced with elimination on the first day, common sense, a touch of maturity and healthy respect for anything, goes right out the window.

......and keep on rocking with the 2.5na. Great motor. I've been running one for years and love the damn thing.

Being as that you have to follow a given course, and they will be checking bread crums, objectives must be met, and in camp by midnight...I don't see an issue. That is unless of course you break something....

Team British 4x4 Specialists is registered, currently with Keith's LR3 and my Series 3, but may change to the Range Rover.
Planning on towing the Series with the LR3 up to Vermont, just hope the Series doesn't have to recover the LR3....

MB, the driving isn't timed. It's about route finding, challenges, navigation, etc. So nobody should be speeding as there is no reason to speed....

Ugh, CBs are required? Our entire club in San Diego have moved on to 2 meter ham radio. Not to be whiny about it, but that would really be a bummer if I have to try and hack on a CB radio for this.

To make it even better, the guy that's the Tech Director for the VOT has a broken website where the "contact us" button doesn't work.

Does anyone know why they are requiring it? Is it just for the team to talk to each other? Do they intend to talk to trucks as they are moving?

You could always do something like this

No need for a permanent install

Yeah but if they plan to talk to trucks from far away a little handheld isn't gonna cut it. That's why I am trying to figure out what they require it for.

I'd hit Peter up, but I also imagine it will be for both staff->team contact as well as intra-team contact when necessary.

Still toying with the idea... not firm on the registration yet. The main problem is that the event is right next to the national rally in Colorado time-wise.

Josh and I would have to decide which we would rather do.

VOT is a little more than a month away, how are everyones preparations coming? A few last things to do to my truck (lights, CB, and a few other things) and then figure out exactly what else to bring.

Really wish I was going... but the cross-country haul from San Diego, my team partner Josh popping out a kid, and the removal of the physical challenges all kind of killed it.

I hope the guys that go take a lot of pictures!

Well.......the "new" motor is in the 110 (thanks Mr Rio)....radiator at the shop being recored....need to tidy up the fuel lines and finish the cooling system flush and fill. All the other goodies (cb, 12vdc outlets, awning, tent, water carrier, creature comforts, etc) are all pretty well done.
I will get a pic of her all set up this weekend.
Can't wait to get this party started!

Worst case is a Disco, or even a P38 setting here ready to go.

Folks, make sure you are checking the webpage and FAQ for recent updates. I know VOT has added specifics on the navigation requirements.

I will have my 2M in addition to CB. Will work with the organizers on a freq and get it published.

Looks like they gave some good clarification; initially it had seemed each truck was going to have to have the capability to breadcrumb in their preferred navigational app-appears now one truck can function as the navigator. Also nice that they're holding a class on it because as yet I've been unimpressed with the apps but I also think functionality is limited till we start using the pdf's of the VT roads.

We'll have 2M going as well, will be good to have a common freq. Also appears the Rover community will have a very good representation there (a plurality at least) so it will be good to see everyone face to face (both in and out of the community)
