If this is a timed event on public roads with no controls other than start / finish, what stops people from speeding when they get behind?

Maybe they are relying on the fact that most of the vehicles conducting the event aren't known for rapid speed over land...I mean, a Rover on 32's with 100k + on the clock isn't a threat to much other than itself (kidding...mostly).

I think what we'll find is that the timing of the legs day to day establishes windows you have to hit but isn't the driving force behind winning/losing-no more than such things were for the Camel Trophy it draws its inspiration from.

Its also my understanding it's not too "extreme," merely more of an amazing race kinda deal versus camel trophy insanity. Still should be a good time.

Back to what Matt Browne was saying.... I do not understand how you "win" the event. (I never understood how you won the CT, either - so maybe I am just a little slow.)

Is it a timed event? Best time wins?
Is it a point event - best score are physcial challenges wins?
Is it like PeeWee soccer where everyone is a winner?

Also - on the physical challenges - do you need to bring equipment (like a kayak or a MT bike)?

I was thinking about dong it in my 1988 camel trophy 110.. I think it may be about 4 weeks too early for when I am there... would be cool though...now if I could just talk AKA ROVER into doing it we would make a hell of a team... you other guys may as well not even show up if you are interested in winning...LOL..)

Wow, the trash talking has already started, and from a guy who isn't even signed up. But in the end, we are all winners.

Dude, it's a leisurely drive in the woods of Vermont, not the Dakar rally. Your truck can't weight more than mine.

My 2.5 N/A will prevent me from speeding. That said, one's common sense, a touch of maturity and a healthy respect/apperciation for the local communities would be key for a second event.

It's all about prespective, if you you are a win at all costs, pedal to the metal kinda guy, I don't belive this event would be for you. That is what King of the Hammers is for. I personally look forward to some beautiful scenery, awsome trails and wheeling with people I would otherwise have never had the chance to meet. Does that help?

DooD! Its got EVERYTHING. Including the kitchen sink. There is a 17 page or so build on Ex Portal under "Around the world CT build"...or something. Lots of gizmos..nice overhead console and rear door diamond plate.
