Thumbs up Vermont Overland / V.O. Trophy

www.vermontoverland.com

I found this website a bit late this year in order to sign up in time, but there is an annual overland competition in Vermont, this year it went from Woodstock to Bridgewater.

I thumbed through the website, I didnt see any Defenders in the trophy, but there were a bunch in the village to village day trip http://www.vermontoverland.com/galleries.html

Pretty cool site to check out -

A buddy of mine just went on the July trip and had a blast. We're thinking of going next year sometime.

Vermont Overland Trophy 2011

Dan- next year they are running 2 VOTs. Since I will be moving to Rhode Island in August, I am looking at the second September event over Labor Day Weekend.

VOT #1: June 24-26, 2011. Lighter terrain

VOT # 2: September 3-5, 2011. More challenging terrain

I could be talked into this that pretty easily. If you look at this years pics from the "Vermont Overland Trophy 2010 in July, you'll see a green JK with MD tags. That's a buddy of mine from down here. He said the trip was a blast.

Vermont Guide Service Discontinued

http://www.vermontoverland.com/guide...-discontinued/

"....From battling (and eventually prevailing) over an Agency of Natural Resources criminal trespass ticket in July to being threatened with a civil suit by the Town of Andover for allegedly damaging a road in October to being banned from visiting the Lover’s Lament by the mega-wealthy landowner (after he read our NYT article) in December, to be very honest, VO just wasn’t worth the incredible amounts of heat we were taking and continue to take in the name of jeeping in Vermont. Much more importantly, it was becoming increasingly difficult to protect you, our valued customers, from such trouble........."

This is really unfortunate-

Bummer. I'm in VT quite a bit and was hoping to meet up with one of their runs this year. It's a beautiful state but has some quirks as you can see.
