VA British Car Show, Gunston Hall, 28 April

Please join the Capital Triumph Register on Sunday, April 28th, 2013 at our club’s sixteenth annual car show and inaugural season at Gunston Hall Plantation, the home of American patriot George Mason. Enjoy the 2013 driving season with a picnic, a day of British automobiles and a complimentary tour of the historic house and grounds.

LARGE VARIETY OF BRITISH CARS

Past shows have featured nearly 200 British cars registered in 25 Classes and hundreds of spectators. The British Car hobby and motor industry are extremely well represented. Dozens of Triumphs and MGs are joined by Austin Healeys, Jaguars, Rolls and Bentleys, Minis, Lotuses, Land Rovers, and cars you’ve probably never seen before, such as Jensen, Riley, and Wolseley. The show is a participant’s choice voting for class awards plus special awards such as Best of Show chosen by the BOG committee. The price of show car registration includes a dash plaque, a commemorative poster, and a tour of Gunston Hall. Spectator admission will be at standard Gunston Hall prices, which includes a tour of the house and grounds as well as the car show. British car regalia and food vendors are available for your enjoyment all day long. Plus you will have an immersion in American Colonial history with the period reenactors giving demonstrations in outdoor cooking.

BOG Show Car Registration Prices:
Pre-registration received by April 15, 2013: $25 per car
Registration after April 15, 2013: $35 per car

BOG Spectator Admission Prices:
Adults: $10
Seniors: $8
Children 6-18: $5
Children under 6: free
Family of 5 (2 adults, 3 children): $25

Britain on the Green is one of the two shows I usually go to. I dont have an MG to throw in there for this one but maybe next year. Its usually a great show. The other one is the Hunt Country Classic out in Middleburg area.

If you want to see some good stuff in a relaxed, not commercial way, BOG is pretty good.

Bump, just a reminder that this is coming up. Maybe we can have a good NOVA Rover showing this year?

Nice to see they brought back the Gunston Hall show. A million years ago it was the biggest British car show in the DC area. In fact, the first time I drove a car was at Gunston Hall at age 10 in my dads 1924 3 litre Bentley (on a 9' chassis for you purists). Will have to check it out!

Are there any ROAV members attending the show? If we get enough club members to attend then they will include the Club information in the program.

http://www.capitaltriumphregister.co...ub-incentives/

Seems like a pretty low level of effort of just including the ROAV club info on your registration.

Since I am bagging URE (lame - I know), I think I will take the Stage One to the BOG.

I've been before, and may go this year...and would probably bring the 90 (if that gives you any idea of the "caliber" of vehicles that are allowable).

They let in 'works in progress.' If its British, they will find a place for it. I had my 72 BGT in it once and it was a driver, not a show car.

That's what I think about mine too.

No they never said anything about a dumpster but they did say something about the river and parking and high tide...

They seemed to like my BGT. It was loud, wouldnt idle for crap (scatter pattern cam and high compression) and liked to spit flames...

"...just not sure about "showing" my RRC or 109....they really are not concourse or show ready/pretty vehicles."

Land Rovers - especially Series trucks, are not show-and-shine vehicles. They get by in car shows on personality alone. Hose out the inside, throw away all the empty beer/oil/brake fluid cans and only if it needs it bad enough - throw some soap and water on the outside. Done and done.

Pedro's faded poppy red Series will get more attention as 80% of the MGB's that disappear in the long lines cars.
