Smile Uwharrie Safari 2008

Who's going this year ?

Charles Galpin, my brother Cabell, and I are all headed down in our 110's. Neil S. is traveling with us in his 90. Anyone traveling south through Virginia want to join our caravan ?

Thanks - as if I don't get a reminder every time I see the corner of my truck!

Either way, it will be hard to get there from Russia, so maybe next year!

Just leave us the keys to your Yellow 90 and the 110... We'll take them out for a little exercise.

Sorry! The 90 is my wife's daily, and the 110 defines "trailside repair." I knew I bought a POS, but the last 350 miles have involved 6k plus in repairs. Thats just to try and keep it road worthy...

We can bring extra chewing gum and bailing wire... Maybe even some JB Weld if Wal-Mart has a sale. Come on, you know it wants to run with it's friends...

I shudder to think of your assessment of Janey.

Yes, I'm sure - but you're dealing with an 83 right? Mine should be 10 years nicer!

I dunno, I think in the end Jim is still way ahead of you on costs. But I am sure his 110 is 10 years nicer - the whole maintaining it remotely thing is the real issue here. I am sure if you had been home the costs would have been far less.

I'll refrain from gloating about my lack of spending until we get back from Uhwarrie, although I've spent a fair amount myself, considering...

To get this thread back on track, I plan on tracking the trip on whereisjaney.com. I am not sure if I told the story, but I had originally bought a cell phone to track Janey going across country because I had a general interest in the technology and wanted to also test it as a tracking device for my daughter. Well, it didn't take long for her to lose it in the woods behind our house. Months later a neighbor found it in a mud puddle and after cleaning it up and baking it in the oven a few times to get the moisture out it appears to be functional so I'm going to re-activate my boost mobile subscription and track this trip. Now all I have to do is find a few extra hours every day to get ready

I'll be there, sportin' the Rubi. I'm covering it for LRM again this year.

I may be able to make it for Saturday/Sunday.

I guess if you guys are driving down in your 110s I should suck it up and drive the 90. On the other hand, I've heard the stories about your trucks- so maybe I should trailer my 90 in case somebody needs a ride home!

Maybe we need to get a D90 picture, like we did at MAR 2004...

I can't believe you're all coming to my turf and I'm not going to be there! Have to go to a wedding in Mexico, but much rather be at this... if this little bit in the middle east doesn't keep getting in the way, soon enough I'm going to be a regular.

Trae,

Love to have you join us. Ron Peppard (rooster ron) from the site here is thinking of trailering his 90 as far as my place and driving it the rest of the way. From what I understand yours is much better "on" road these days.

Ahh, my dirty little secret is out! I'm getting old, that's all... and I needed it to fit in a standard 7' garage door for when I move.
